Minecraft update 1.4, colloquially titled the "Pretty Scary Update," will add Witches, a new class of ranged mobs, to the game in preparation for Halloween.

The news comes from the Twitter account of Mojang designer Nathan Adams, who questioned how one could go about designing the magical archetype while following Minecraft's cuboid art conventions.

"How do you even draw a witch anyway," Adams tweeted. "Pointy nose? In a blocky world it'd look like Pinocchio!"

In his following tweets, Adams clarified that the Witch would be a ranged attacker, and would have "a less traditional witch look and have an 'offshoot villager' kinda thing." He also referenced a "magical nose that wiggles," though that could just be a Bewitched goof — we're not sure Minecraft's visuals allow for the kind of fidelity required to really see a nose-wiggle.

Minecraft update 1.4 is scheduled to launch sometime around Halloween. For more info on the update's contents, check out this round-up on PCGamesN.
