Rez creator steps away from his role in games production for something more academic.

Famed Rez creator Tetsuya Mizuguchi is no longer working directly in games production, Q Entertainment director Nobuhiko Shimizu told Eurogamer.

Mizuguchi is instead currently working with the studio he co-founded in a delegatory role, and has become more involved in academic work since the release of 2011's Child of Eden.

"Right now Mizuguchi does not produce the games," said Shimizu. "He's now more of a spokesperson. He's not developing stuff right now."

Q Entertainment's last game was Lumines Electronic Symphony for the PS Vita, while the studio is currently contemplating the development of a game that combines card-battles with music, on top of a number of other new projects.

"We are now thinking about combining music games with card-battle games. We now have several productions to develop that kind of game."

Mizuguchi co-founded Q Entertainment in 2003 with Shuji Utsumi.
