Vaas Montenegro may be Far Cry 3's chief antagonist, but he's not the only threat to Jason Brody in the game. The island is also swarming with a mercenary army. EX-CIA operative Agent Huntley explains that their head honcho, Hoyt Volker, spends much of his time on the South Island. Taking Volker out will mean a parachute drop into extremely unfriendly territory.

When we spoke with lead game designer Jamie Keen earlier this year, he explained that players will likely want to recapture territories spread across the islands from the game's privateer army. There are a total of 34 outposts, he told us, each controlling a section of the world map. Capturing one of those points allows you to control the area and clear out most of the pirates. Keen also promised that the final bastions for the privateers were incredibly hard to capture.

"The ones near the end of the game," he told us at the time, "We're really pushing those. We're tweaking them to make them possible to do."

Far Cry 3 will be released on PC, PS3 and Xbox 360 on November 29th.
