One of the Middle East's largest consumer video game conventions took place this weekend, with more than 25,000 attendees descending on Dubai's Festival City, Gulf News reports.

Now in its fifth year, Games12 is an annual consumer video game convention that gives players the chance to check out games before they're released and play against each other in multiplayer battles. For three days publishers from around the world showed their upcoming games, from Call of Duty: Black Ops 2 to Halo 4, Assassin's Creed 3, Hitman: Absolution and Tomb Raider, and attendees could play the pre-beta builds of some of those games.

Sony also showed off its PlayStation 3 Super Slim at the event and publishers like 2K Games, Capcom, NCSoft, Konami, Square-Enix, THQ and more had set up booths so that attendees could play the games (not too dissimilar from Gamescom).

The event was sponsored by Gaming Alliance Middle East and brought some of the region's largest publishers, developers and international players under the same roof. Among the exhibitors were Xbox Gulf, Pluto Games, Red Entertainment Distribution, Sony Gulf PlayStation, Activision Blizzard, Disney Interactive, Electronic Arts, SEGA, and Ubisoft.

The show ran from September 20th-22nd and had one of the highest turn-outs for a show of its kind on the region. For more information, visit Games12.
