This is our first look at Total War: Rome 2, sequel to 2004's turn-based, real-time hybrid strategy game, in action.
The game, in development by The Creative Assembly and set for a release next year, has players fighting to turn the Roman Republic into the Roman Empire in a game that deftly mixes turn-based strategy with real-time tactics.
This video, packed with sea battles, sieges, and legions of men bristling with spears and protected by shields, gives us a glimpse of tactician Scipio Aemilianus' attempt to break the three-year-long siege of Carthage in 146BC.
