G-Star 2012, the Korean gaming convention, will be the largest one yet, its organizers announced today.
The eighth annual G-Star will take place at BEXCO in Busan, South Korea, from November 8th to 11th. It is being run by a private company, Korea Association of Game Industry, for the first time. The company expects record attendance thanks to a "higher global profile," as demonstrated by a flood of interest from game developers and publishers both in Korea and abroad.
The convention's business-to-business expo hall is oversold with 630 booths, and registration has been closed, while its business-to-consumer hall is 99 percent full with 1,288 booths filled — a 30 percent increase over G-Star 2011. Companies set to have booths on the show floor include Korean publisher Nexon, Chinese giant Tencent, Belarusian developer Wargaming.net, and Blizzard Entertainment of the United States.
G-Star 2012's official slogan, revealed by Korea Association of Game Industry chairman KwanHo Choi, is "Game, Touching The World," which is meant to imply that "anyone can become a global citizen through games," according to today's press release.
