Genshin Impact’s “Date’s Challenge” is a series of puzzles northeast of Evernight Temple. It’s also part of the “Collection of Dragon and Snakes” world quest, in which you find Date and complete his puzzles around Enkanomiya. Our Genshin Impact guide explains the maze puzzle solution, as well as how to find Date and solve his second labyrinth puzzle.

Before you can even talk to Date, you’ll need to solve his first puzzle. To solve this, you’ll need to hit the nearby mechanism to switch between Whitenight and Evernight. During Whitenight, you need to hit the two triangle mechanisms so that the maze looks like the following:

Once it’s set up like this, switch to Evernight and drop down. Enter the maze from the east entrance and activate the glowing Hydro pillars. A gate in the center will open up, allowing you to claim your reward.

You’ll get a medal for completing this puzzle and Date will be standing nearby, eager to challenge you again. He notes that if you solve his second puzzle, he’ll allow you to grab the treasure in the room past him.

Use the key Date gave you and open the gate shown above. Once you drop down, you’ll need to align the walls so the northmost wall is on the left, the middle wall is in the middle, and the southmost wall is on the right. To achieve this, do the following:

  1. Switch to Whitenight.
  2. Use the northmost lever to open the north gate.
  3. Hit the western triangle mechanism twice.
  4. Use the northmost lever to close the north gate.
  5. Use the southmost lever to open the south gate.
  6. Hit the eastern triangle mechanism twice.
  7. Use the southmost lever to close the south gate.
  8. Hit the western triangle mechanism once.
  9. Switch back to Evernight to open the chest.

After you grab the loot, you can go back and talk to Date, showing him the proof that you cleared both of his puzzles. He’ll give you a key to open the room behind him, rewarding you with Hydrological Studies in Byakuyakoku.
