Throughout God of War’s the Lake of Nine, most towers are accessible from beaches or via lifts that will bring you to the top. Asgard Tower is an exception. You cannot reach Asgard Tower even from the lift that sits at the base of the structure. In fact, the only way to access the tower is from the Isle of Death later in the game.

Once the water drops, an entirely new area of The Isle of Death opens up. To make your way to Asgard Tower, you’ll need to fight your way to the top of the Isle of Death.
Making your way up the Isle of Death
Set your map marker to the Isle of Death and head to the new beach area, which is several feet below where you first docked your boat early in the game. Depending on when you first enter this area, you might have trouble dealing with the two Revenants who stalk two areas of this beach. It’s best to isolate them, fighting the one right on the beach first and the second inland afterward.
After you’ve dispatched them, climb up the first stone wall shown in the gallery above. Follow the path forward and leap across the gap to enter a cave. From there, you’ll climb up a few levels until you reach an area where a flag flaps in the wind, and you’ll see several platforms and pulleys.
Riding the pulley system to the tower
This area is pretty straightforward. To get onto the first pulley, use your axe to hit the rotating mechanism twice so the pulley is below you. From there, you can slide down the rope with your axe and land on the platform.
Once you’re on the platform, you’ll find a lever that will then raise the platform upward again. Repeat this process for the next two platforms until you’re back on land.
Once you’re on the piece of the mountain connected to Asgard Tower, follow the path forward until you reach the tower itself. The levers there will lower a platform that will let you ascend the tower from the lake.
When you reach the top, you’ll find a lone level seven Traveler waiting for you. Steer clear of its easy telegraphed attacks and be on your guard when it dashes. Otherwise, you can take the lift on the opposite end of the platform and try again later.
Be warned: If you fight the Traveler and lose, you’ll respawn back on the pathway outside of the tower. So each time you face off against the Traveler, you’ll have to call the platform back down to ascend the tower. It’s a minor annoyance worth pointing out.
With the Traveler defeated, you can decipher the Niflheim text on the braziers if you have all the language pieces.
