God of War guide: Forgotten Caverns walkthrough and collectibles

In God of War, once you’re free to explore all there is to offer on the Lake of Nine, you’ll likely head to the various towers and landmarks shrouded in the mist throughout the body of water. Each of these has various items, enemies and more to explore. We’ll breakdown what you can find at one of these such locations, the Forgotten Caverns, located west of Tyr’s Temple between the two parts of the World Serpent’s body at the beginning of the game.

As you dock on the shores of the Forgotten Caverns, you’ll see several enemies milling about, including some heavy and standard draugr. Even after you’ve dispatched them, the fighting won’t be over. On the far end of the beach, you’ll find a brazier that will unleash several reavers. Taking care of them will free the spirit there helping you make progress on the Unfinished Business favor as well as receiving a reward for that quest.

After dealing with all the enemies, be sure to head to the opposite end of the island to find one of Odin’s Ravens and a puzzle to unlock a Nornir chest. This might be tricky since this puzzle is timed. The easiest way to handle this chest is to hit one of the bells so the entire contraption spins in one direction. Then hit the next bell in a way that would reverse the rotation, which will stop the whole device from spinning. From there, you can easily hit the last bell, unlocking the chest and an Idunn Apple.

Once you’re done with that, head up the chain located at the center of the beach. From there you’ll find a chest containing a Muspelheim Cipher Piece and opposite of that chest, you can find an Abandon Ship piece on a corpse along a wall.
