In this Paper Mario: The Origami King guide, we’ll help you find every collectible, hidden block, and repairable hole throughout Toad Town.
Toad Town collectibles locations – First visit
There are 1 Toad, 16 Not-Bottomless Holes, 13 Collectible Treasures, and 9 ? Blocks in Toad Town.
Toad Town is self-contained, so its boundaries are pretty clear. You’ll be returning here throughout the game, so we’ll make sure to call any areas you have to progress past to open up these collectibles.
Not-Bottomless Hole 1 of 16
You’ll pass this hole as soon as you enter the area from Whispering Woods.
Not-Bottomless Hole 2 of 16
A little to the right, you’ll spot your second hole right in the middle of the path.
Not-Bottomless Hole 3 of 16 and ? Block 1 of 9
Shortly before you reach the bridge into Toad Town, you’ll pass some ledges that lead up to this Not-Bottomless Hole and ? Block.
Not-Bottomless Hole 4 of 16
About a screen to the left of the bridge into town, this Not-Bottomless Hole is on the wall (you’ll walk right past it).
Not-Bottomless Hole 5 of 16
This Not-Bottomless Hole is on the ground directly to the left of the bridge.
? Block 2 of 9
Continue to the right past the bridge to find the next ? Block.
Not-Bottomless Hole 6 of 16
As you enter the center of town, this Not-Bottomless Hole is on the door to the northwest.
(From here, we’re going to make a big loop clockwise around the town.)
Collectible Treasure 1 of 13: No. 5 – Camp Speaker
Head inside the building to the left of the one you just repaired. Go through the door on the far side of the room. The Collectible Treasure No. 5 – Camp Speaker is in the (shared) backyard.
? Block 3 of 9
Head back out front. The next ? Block is on the ground between that house and the next one.
? Block 4 of 9
Continue all the way to the left of Toad Town along the water. You’ll find this ? Block near a couple trees and a pipe.
Not-Bottomless Hole 7 of 16
Backtrack to the stairs in the southwest of Toad Town, and head up them. This Not-Bottomless Hole is at the top.
Not-Bottomless Hole 8 of 16
At the top of those stairs, take a left. Follow the path down and to the left to the front door of the house and the next Not-Bottomless Hole.
Not-Bottomless Hole 9 of 16
Just past the top of the stairs, look for a gap in the bushes on your right. Turn and go down the stairs. Handle the Paper Macho Goomba, and you’ll be able to patch this hole on the outside of the house.
? Block 5 of 9
Continue clockwise around the town and past the (now broken) bridge into Peach’s Castle. Head into the next house — just to the right of the bridge. Hit the drawer on your left when you walk in, and use it to climb up and reach this ? Block.
Not-Bottomless Hole 10 of 16
Just to the right of that house, snake your way through the scaffolding to reach this Not-Bottomless Hole.
Not-Bottomless Hole 11 of 16
Continue right to the mansion. This Not-Bottomless Hole is just to the right of the front door.
Not-Bottomless Hole 12 of 16
Head inside the mansion, and you’ll find this Not-Bottomless Hole to the left.
Collectible Treasure 2 of 13: No. 6 – Coins
Back outside, head to the right. In the seating area for the coffee shop, hit the umbrella with your hammer to release a 1,000-Fold Arms Magic Circle. Use it to pull a section of wall down.
Use the boxes on the right side of the coffee shop to climb to the roof, and then jump across to the umbrella and tab you pulled down to reach the scaffolding around the second floor. The door into the mansion is locked (and will remain locked until you find its owner much later), so continue up to the roof.
Defeat the Paper Macho Goomba on the roof to free the Sniffit inside. It’ll give you the Collectible Treasure No. 6 – Coins.
Not-Bottomless Hole 13 of 16
Continue clockwise and right to the Tram to Overlook Mountain. The next Not-Bottomless Hole is out in front to the right of the fountain.
Not-Bottomless Hole 14 of 16
Head down to the large, red brick building and take out the Paper Macho Goomba stalking around. The Not-Bottomless Hole is on the door.
? Block 6 of 9
Inside the red brick building, look for a conspicuously empty square on the ground next to the boxes on the left side. Hit this spot with your hammer to find the next ? Block.
? Block 7 of 9
Back outside, head down and to the left to find some stairs. At the bottom, turn to the right, and go to the end of the path there. The next ? Block is in the dead end.
Not-Bottomless Hole 15 of 16
Keep heading left from the Weapon and Item Shop. The next Not-Bottomless Hole is in front of the museum.
Collectible Treasure 3 of 13: No. 4 – Torch from Peach’s Castle
Head up along the left side of the Battle Lab (the red mushroom-shaped building) and take a left to go through the almost-hidden tunnel there. On the other side, you’ll find a chest with Collectible Treasure No. 4 – Torch from Peach’s Castle inside.
? Block 8 of 9
During you trip around town to collect the Manhole Hook, you’ll make your way into the second room of the red brick building (by the dock). In there, you’ll need to hit the green stairs-cart over to the right. Climb up and follow the shelves to the right to find this ? Block.
Toad Town collectibles locations – After Graffiti Underground
After a quick detour through Graffiti Underground, you’ll emerge inside what’s left of Peach’s Castle. You’ll be able to grab a couple more collectibles now.
? Block 9 of 9
As soon as you enter the ruins of Peach’s Castle, take the left path. The final ? Block in this area is at the end.
Toad 1 of 1
After you free Luigi from his intradimensional prison, you’ll be able to head to the right and out the other side of Peach’s Castle. Just as you exit, you’ll hear (read?) a voice calling from a tower. Knock down the Folded Soldier at the top, and then defeat it. You’ll get a 1,000-Fold Arms Magic Circle. Use that to pop open the tower and rescue the Toad inside.
Toad Town collectibles locations – After Picnic Road
You can only reach the final Not-Bottomless Hole after you save the Accessories Shop owner in Picnic Road.
Not-Bottomless Hole 16 of 16
Once you’ve rescued the Toad that runs the Accessories Shop, return to Toad Town and follow them inside. The Not-Bottomless Hole will be on the left.
Toad Town collectibles locations – After Shroom City (and late game)
The remaining Collectible Treasures only become available over the course the rest of the game.
Collectible Treasures 4 through 9 of 13
Just to the north of the red brick building near the dock, there’s a hidden alley. Head through it to the right and you’ll be on a dock. Hit the barrel at the end of the dock to meet Monty Mole. After you beat each of the game’s bosses, he’ll sell you Collectible Treasures of:
- Collectible Treasure No. 7 – Colored Pencils
- Collectible Treasure No. 8 – Rubber Band
- Collectible Treasure No. 9 – Hole Punch
- Collectible Treasure No. 10 – Tape
- Collectible Treasure No. 11 – Scissors
- Collectible Treasure No. 12 – Stapler
Collectible Treasure 10 of 13 – No. 13: Log Cabin
Once you free the Toads in Shroom City (in the Sandpaper Desert), one of them — a yellow one — will return to the mansion in Toad City and unlock the upstairs door — the one we passed on our way to Collectible Treasure 2 above. Collectible Treasure No. 13: Log Cabin is in the treasure chest inside.
Collectible Treasure 11 of 13 – No. 14: Mario
On your trips back to Toad Town, keep an eye on the building next to the entrance to Graffiti Underground. When you spot a Toad inside, hand him the Manhole Hook, and he’ll give you Collectible Treasure No. 14 – Mario.
Collectible Treasure 12 of 13 – No. 119: Princess Peach
Once you have beaten the game, head to the Weapon and Item Shop in the southeast of Toad Town. You can buy Collectible Treasure No. 119: Princess Peach.
Collectible Treasure 13 of 13 – No. 120: Origami Cranes
Once you have beaten the game, return to the center of town right by the entrance. Collectible Treasure No. 120: Origami Cranes will be on the ground.
