There are 58 Toads, 17 Not-Bottomless Holes, 3 Collectible Treasures, and 7 ? Blocks in Picnic Road.

You’ll enter Picnic Road after you exit the ruins of Peach’s Castle. After that, you’ll head into Overlook Mountain or the Earth Vellumental Temple.

Not-Bottomless Hole 1 and 2 of 17 and Toad 1 of 58

As soon as you enter the Picnic Road area, this Not-Bottomless Hole is on your left. On the far side of the hole, your first Toad is in the pile of leaves.

Not-Bottomless Holes 3 through 7 of 17 and ? Block 1 of 7

As you climb the first hill, you’ll see several obvious Not-Bottomless Holes ahead of you. Watch along the right side of the path for the first ? Block above one of them.

Toad 2 of 58

At the top of the first ramp, look to your left for a small hole in the ground. Hit it once with your hammer, and a rolled up Toad will pop up. Pull them out to rescue them.

Toads 3 and 4 of 58

A little up the hill from Toad 2, look for an origami butterfly. Hit it with your hammer to reveal this Toad. Look at the rock wall on the left for another hole. Hit the wall a few times with your hammer to knock loose another Toad.

Toads 5 through 8 of 58 and ? Block 2 of 7

Back at the top of the first hill, look to the left for a fence. Knock over a section onto the Folded Soldier Shy Guy there, and then fight that one’s buddy. You’ll see all four of these Toads on the ground — one of them will run away, but it still counts.

Go through the door on the wall to the left, and follow the path up to the next ? Block.

Toad 9 of 58

Continue up the hill, keeping to the left side. At the very top, look for a yellow, origami flower (tulip?) under a tree. Hit it to reveal this Toad.

Toad 10 of 58

Keep heading up the hill until you spot a sign and a pond. Walk behind the sign and hit it with your hammer to knock loose this Toad.

Toad 11 of 58

From the sign, head left. Stick close to the shrub-wall (on the opposite side as where you found Toad 9 above). You’ll meet this Toad near the rock wall on the left.

Not-Bottomless Holes 8 through 10 of 17 and Toads 12 through 17 of 58

Head up toward the mushroom house wrapped in the red streamer. There’s a lot going on around here.

There are three Not-Bottomless Holes nearby.
To the left of the mushroom house, look for another origami butterfly Toad.
Hit the mailbox with your hammer, and three envelope-Toads will fall out (hit each of them with your hammer).
Hit the tree to the right of the mushroom house to knock down a crumpled up Toad.
When you patch the hole in the upper right of the image above, another origami butterfly Toad will descend into reach.

Toads 18 through 26 of 58

Head right until you spot a flagpole. There is a Toad stuck in the sand to the left of the flag. Hit the ground on the green to reveal some iconic blocks. Climb up and jump to the flagpole to turn the flag back into a Toad.

It might take a couple tries, but if you hit the very top of the flagpole, the ball on top will fly off and explode into seven more Toads.

? Block 3 of 7

Head up the hill a little from the golf green toward the barking origami dog. Line up with the not-hidden ? Block, standing right in the middle of the gap in the shrubs behind the dog. Jump to reveal this hidden ? Block.

Toads 27 through 31 of 58 and ? Block 4 of 7

Hit the origami dog blocking your path to reveal the Toad who runs the Toad Town Battle Lab. Just to the right, you’ll find the next ? Block. A few steps down from there, there’s a hole in the wall on your right. Keep hitting the wall until you release four more Toads.

Not-Bottomless Holes 11 and 12 of 17 and Toads 32 and 33 of 58

Continue down from the four Toad hole. You’ll spot the next two Not-Bottomless Holes. Smash the rock between them, and then hit the hole in the ground to knock free an origami beetle. Hit the beetle to free this Toad. Hit the tree to knock down another crumpled up Toad.

Toad 34 of 58

Stay along the rock wall on your right, and drop off the ledge. You’ll be in a small open area with five holes and an origami gopher Toad. Hit the three holes along the top with your hammer to make them disappear. This will limit the gopher-Toad to the two closest together along the bottom. Approach whichever one the gopher-Toad is sticking out of, and then switch direction and hit the opposite hole to free the Toad. (If you screw up, it’ll reset so you can try again.)

Not-Bottomless Hole 13 of 17 and Toads 35 and 36 of 58

Jump over the shrub wall from the gopher-Toad, and you’ll land right next to the next Not-Bottomless Hole.

When it’s repaired, there will be a hole in the ground. Hit it to free an origami butterfly-Toad. Just to the left, there’s another hole in the ground. Hit this one to make an origami flower-Toad pop up.

Not-Bottomless Holes 14 and 15 of 17, ? Blocks 5 through 7 of 7, and Toad 37 of 58

Head left from those Toads, and drop down by the pond. There’s a Not-Bottomless Hole on your right and another a few steps down in the same wall (just out of the shot above to the bottom right). Step out onto the block in the water, and then swing your hammer to the right. Keep doing that, and you’ll reveal three ? Blocks. Stand at the end of those, and you’ll be able to hit the origami swan-Toad as well.

Not-Bottomless Hole 16 of 17

Head down the stairs just below the pond. The next Not-Bottomless Hole is on the landing.

Toads 38 and 39 of 58

Continue down the stairs to the bottom. You’ll spot a Toad on the table to the right of the Save Block. Hit the umbrella to the left of the Save Block (for a lot of coins), and then head back up the stairs. Drop from the landing onto the umbrella you opened, and you’ll be able to reach the next Toad.

Toads 40 through 49 of 58

Cross the plaza in front of the Earth Vellumental Temple to the right side. Use the boxes to climb up on top of the stalls. There’s a statue in an alcove on your right. Hit it with your hammer to release a Magic Circle, and then use your 1,000-Fold Arms to break another statue in another alcove above you. That statue will release 10 Toads.

Not-Bottomless Hole 17 of 17

Head to the bottom (closest to the camera) edge of the Earth Vellumental Temple plaza to find the final Not-Bottomless Hole.

Toad 50 of 58

Head down the stairs you just repaired. At the bottom, look for a cracked statue to hit. Walk through the opening that creates, and follow the hidden hallway to the right. Fight the Scaredy Rat, and you’ll be able to rescue this Toad.

Toad 51 of 58

Back up top, return to those tables by the Save Block — you found Toads 38 and 39 here earlier. Duck into the room behind the table on the right to find another crumpled up Toad. (This one doesn’t seem to be here the first time you pass by.)

Picnic Road collectibles locations – After Earth Vellumental Temple

After you defeat the Earth Vellumental in its temple, you can pick up a few more collectibles in the Earth Vellumental Temple’s plaza.

Toads 52 through 55 and 56 of 58

After you have defeated the Earth Vellumental, return to the plaza in front of the entrance. Visit the popcorn vendor in the back left corner. Ask for some popcorn, and you’ll get four Toads instead. Cross over to the right side of the plaza. This origami mushroom Toad is on the table to the far right (bottom of the screen). You can’t buy it, so just whack them with your hammer.

Collectible Treasures 1 and 2 of 3 – No. 22: Shellvation is Near and No. 23: Vellumental Idol

Collectible Treasures No. 22: Shellvation is Near and No. 23: Vellumental Idol are for sale at that same stand to the right of the Earth Vellumental Temple entrance. Buy the first, leave the stand, and then talk to the owner again. He’ll have the second treasure in stock right away.

Picnic Road collectibles locations – After Colored Pencils

A bit later, after you defeat Colored Pencils in Overlook Tower, return to that yellow, mushroom-shaped house that was previously wrapped in the red streamer.

Collectible Treasure 3 of 3 – No. 24: Sensor Lab and Toad 57 of 58

With the red streamer out of the way, you can now reach the Sensor Lab. Before you go inside, head off the porch to the right to find a chest containing Collectible Treasure No. 24: Sensor Lab.

Up on the porch, hit the sign with your hammer to knock loose a Toad.

Toad 58 of 58

Inside the Sensor Lab, hit the fax machine in the upper left to knock free this area’s final Toad.
