In this Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy game outfits guide, we’ll show you where to get each of the game’s outfits, skins, or costumes. We’ll show you the location and directions to find each outfit in each chapter for Star-Lord, Drax, Gamora, Rocket, and Groot. Finding and equipping all the costumes in Guardians of the Galaxy gives you an achievement or trophy called “Fashion Passion.”

Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy game pre-order and bonus outfits

If you pre-ordered Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy game, you will also have a throwback costume for each character. If you didn’t pre-order the game, you can find these in the final chapters of Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy.

If you have the deluxe version of the game, you’ll also have two outfits for Star-Lord: Sun-Lord and City-Lord. These two costumes will also be available to those without the deluxe version upon beating the game.

Chapter 1: A Risky Gamble outfits

In Chapter 1, you start the game with Drax, Gamora, Star-Lord, Rocket, and Groot’s Standard Outfits, which are designed specifically for the Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy game. There are also two other outfits to find in Chapter 1.

Rocket outfit: Guardians of the Galaxy (2014)

After sliding down the first metal ramp, you’ll be at a fork in the road. Rocket will mention that the right path is a dead end, which is true.

Instead, walk to your right onto a blue metal platform just before the fork in the road. You can drop down inside a corridor on this metal outcropping. Inside you’ll find some components and Rocket’s Guardians of the Galaxy movie outfit.

Groot outfit: Guardians of the Galaxy (2014)

After reuniting with Groot, you’ll exit the room you’re in and enter a series of tunnels. Before venturing into the corridors, turn to your right. You’ll see a hole you can crawl into underneath some pink goo. Inside is Groot’s Guardians of the Galaxy movie outfit.

Chapter 2: Busted outfit

There are two outfits in Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy Chapter 2: Busted. However, you can only collect one of them for now. You’ll be able to get the other one in Chapter 7.

As you’re following Nikki through the Nova Corps base, you’ll go down a flight of stairs. When she asks you whether you want to hear the “good news” or “bad news” about your crew, you can go down another flight of steps to a landing covered in water. Behind some pipes, you’ll see a box containing an outfit. You’ll be able to get this costume in Chapter 7.

Star-Lord outfit: Nova-Lord

After helping Nikki push a box in the tunnels to stop some flames, you’ll have the option to “encourage her” or “take control.” After making a choice, duck under a pipe behind Nikki to find this Star-Lord outfit.

Chapter 3: The Cost of Freedom outfits

There are two outfits in Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy Chapter 3: The Cost of Freedom.

Gamora outfit: Guardians of the Galaxy (2014)

After defeating the jelly monsters, your team will climb out of the battle arena and into a forest. In the forest, take a right near the red flora. Keep going until you reach a cave. Inside the cave, you’ll have to destroy some red goo to continue forward. In the next section of the cave, you’ll have to fight two jelly monsters on your own. After defeating them, shoot the grey goo to move onward. After squeezing through a narrow passage, climb out of the cave and you’ll find a box with Gamora’s Guardians of the Galaxy outfit on your right before you exit.

Groot outfit: Five Horsemen of the Apocalypse

After defeating the duo of tailed slakebeasts, you’ll grab the electronic cage. From there, you’ll need Groot to build a bridge to continue forward. Over the bridge, take the path to the left where you’ll need to destroy some grey goo to enter a cave. Inside the cave, use your elemental guns to shoot ice at the waterfall to create a platform. Climb up and out of the cave to find this Groot outfit on the edge of a cliff.

Chapter 4: The Monster Queen outfits

There are two outfits in Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy Chapter 4: The Monster Queen. Who you choose to sell in Chapter 3 changes where you’ll obtain the costumes in this section of the game. Below we’ll detail where to find the outfits on the path in which you sell Groot.

Drax outfit: Guardians of Galaxy (2014) [Sell Groot path]

If you choose to sell Groot to Lady Hellbender, you’ll eventually have to sneak back into her throne room. As you enter the room, run along the walkway behind the throne to the other side of the room. On the opposite side of the chamber will be a box with Drax’s Guardians of the Galaxy movie outfit.

Rocket outfit: Five Horsemen of the Apocalypse [Sell Groot path]

If you choose to sell Groot to Lady Hellbender, you’ll have to navigate through a few hallways of drunken guards after taking the elevator down from the throne room. After riding the elevator down, your teammates will go left to investigate further. Go right and hop over the bar table. Then navigate around the circular table to the back of the hallway where the boxes are. Crouch under a hole between a pile of boxes to find this outfit.

Chapter 5: Due or Die outfits

There are two Nova Corp-related outfits in Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy game Chapter 5: Due or Die.

Drax outfit: Nova Corps

At the beginning of Chapter 5, when you’re hacking the doors into the Nova Corp base lobby, route the power into the smaller locked door. This leads to a bathroom with this Nova Corp Drax outfit.

Groot outfit: Nova Corps

When you find the helmet in the transmission room and if you choose to talk on the helmet, you’ll have to fight your way out of the Nova Corp base. After defeating a group of enemies in a hallway, you will enter a room glowing with orange light with a machine in the center of the room that you must jump up to exit this area. Before leaving, look at the far corner of the room to find a box with this outfit.

Chapter 6: Between a Rock and a Hard Place outfits

There is only one outfit to be found in Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy Chapter 6: Between a Rock and a Hard Place.

Star-Lord outfit: Guardians of the Galaxy (2014)

After you split up with Drax and Gamora, you can venture around Knowhere on your own. Keep heading toward the mission objective until you get to the large, pink Spirit Tree. At the base of the tree are three children playing finger guns. Jump over the railing behind them onto some red pipes. Walk under the stairs to find this outfit.

Chapter 7: Canine Confusion outfits

There are two outfits in Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy Chapter 7: Canine Confusion.

Rocket outfit: Nova Corps

During this chapter, you’ll raise a platform in a circular room with red lights. You’ll have to fight two batches of enemies as you ascend. After the second wave, you’ll have to route power to keep the elevator moving. Rocket will open two rooms to help you route power. Enter the room on the left to find this outfit.

In this room, you’ll find a pallet along the far wall. Star-Lord will ask Groot to raise the platform with him on it. Raise the platform to a walkway above you. From there, crawl through the vent to a larger room. In this new area, you can route the power with your guns to a door in the back of the room. Inside is Rocket’s Nova Corp outfit.

Gamora outfit: Nova Corps

After fighting the flying Nova Corp members, you will retrace the steps you took with Nikki earlier in the game. On the way back to her hideout, you’ll come across a flight of stairs with electrified water at the bottom. Head to the water and reroute the energy with your electrified guns to steer the power away from the water.

In the far end of this area are pipes Gamora can cut down. Slash through and grab the Gamora outfit.

Chapter 8: The Matriarch outfits

There are two outfits in Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy Chapter 8: The Matriarch.

Star-Lord outfit: Bad-Lord

After Drax jumps into the red warp drive fluid, follow him into the tunnel leading down. When you’re done crawling through the tunnel, turn right and have Drax carry the large pillar. Place the pillar directly at the mouth of the tunnel you just exited. Jump up the pillar, and go into the room above, which has a box with this costume.

Drax outfit: Cage Match

Once you finish the section where you hijack multiple skiffs, you’ll dock in a circular tower. Before heading to the door in front of where you landed, run around the platform. There is a chest with this skin behind the boxes.

Chapter 9: Desperate Times outfits

There are no outfits in Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy game Chapter 9: Desperate Times. However, the outcome of your conversation with the Worldmind does have an effect much later in the story.

Chapter 10: Test of Faith outfits

There are three outfits in Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy game Chapter 10: Test of Faith.

Gamora outfit: Five Horsemen of the Apocalypse

Mantis will bring you to a cave. After crossing the crystal bridge, you’ll climb up to a river. Next to the river is a waterfall with a cave behind. If you look closely, you’ll see the pink glow of an outfit chest illuminating the cave. Enter it to get this outfit.

Rocket outfit: Hero of Halfworld

After defeating the three large enemies in the cave, you’ll be in an area with a large face and a crack in it along a wall toward your right. Command Rocket to enter a small opening to the left of the face to blow a hole through it.

Behind the face is a cave with toxic gas. Use your elemental guns to shoot ice at the gas and make the room safe. Then hop over the gap and command Groot to lift a platform inside the cave up to a ledge above you.

Exit the cave and keep climbing up until you find a ledge you can shimmy across to this outfit chest.

Groot outfit: Annihilation: Conquest Suit

In the section where Groot is leading you through the darkness, keep running along the right side of the cave. You’ll eventually turn a corner where you’ll see a room lit by a purple glow between a crack. Enter this small cave for this outfit.

Chapter 11: Mind Over Matter outfits

There are no outfits in Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy game Chapter 11: Mind Over Matter.

Chapter 12: Knowhere to Run outfits

There are five outfits in Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy game Chapter 12: Knowhere to Run. If you’ve pre-ordered the game, you’ll already have some of these outfits. If so, you’ll find components in their place instead.

Drax outfit: Thanos Imperative

After defeating the first wave of enemies at the very start of the chapter, command Drax to pull out this yellow container. Then jump on top of it to find this outfit. (Confirmation courtesy of PowerPyx.)

Rocket outfit: The Smuggler

After your first battle in the marketplace, your teammates will lead you to an area you must squeeze through. Before doing that, look to your right and focus on the glowing green piece of machinery in the wall. Pull it out with your elemental guns’ wind powers. Beyond the machinery is a small corridor with this outfit.

Groot outfit: Impaler

If you pre-ordered the game, you’ll already have this outfit and you’ll find two sets of components here instead.

After the area where Gamora cuts down wires so you can move forward, the next area you’ll stop at a shiny metal wall that you and Drax must push aside. Before doing that, look to your left. You’ll find a bar you can pull with your guns’ wind power on a wall across a gap. Pulling out the panel reveals an area that Groot can build a bridge across.

Cross the bridge and walk through the tunnel. At the end will be a malfunctioning door. Shoot the panel above the door to reveal machinery you can shoot electricity at from your guns so the door opens.

In the next area is a room where most of the ground is covered in electricity. Shoot the panel off of a small door to your left and command Rocket to enter. He’ll turn off the electricity. You can find the outfit box behind some pallets to the right. (Confirmation courtesy of PowerPyx.)

Gamora outfit: Casual Kill

After the battles where you must jump across the rooftops, you’ll need to command Drax to smash a crack on a platform. This reveals a path you can slide down. Once you reach the bottom, turn around to find a small hole you can crawl through. This outfit is on the other side.

Star-Lord outfit: Apocalypse-Lord

After fighting enemies in the circular brain dust area, you’ll pull a handle from a wall to reveal a pillar Drax can move. Once you’ve climbed the pillar, you’ll have Gamora vault up to a wall so you can climb even higher.

From there, Gamora can launch you left or right. Choose the path to the right to land on a platform with this outfit.

Chapter 13: Against All Odds outfits

There are four outfits in Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy Chapter 13: Against All Odds.

Gamora outfit: Black Vortex

After defeating the first two enemies, you’ll find a wall of ice Gamora can cut through and a wall she can vault to the right. Climb the wall with Gamora’s help. On top of the cliff you’ll find this outfit on a pillar across a gap. (Confirmation courtesy of PowerPyx.)

Groot outfit: Five O’Clock Sprouts

Once you’ve defeated the frost worms, Groot will build a bridge across a gap. You’ll shimmer over a ledge and enter a cave. Once you enter the cave, you’ll find this chest in a path directly to your right.

Star-Lord outfit: War-Lord

If you’ve linked your game to your Square Enix account, then you’ll have this outfit unlocked already. In its place will be some components.

After you receive the fire ability for Star-Lord’s guns, you’ll use your new skill to melt ice in a cave. At one point you’ll melt ice from the ceiling to drop a piece of the cave on top of a giant skeleton. This lets you jump across a gap.

On the other side, look up to your left to find more ice on the ceiling to melt which drops a platform. Have Groot raise this platform up to a small opening in a cave to grab this outfit. (Confirmation courtesy of PowerPyx.)

Rocket outfit: The Stinger

When you get to the section with the poison spore plants, run along the right side of this area. At the end of this section, you’ll come across a clearing with four spore plants. Shoot them down to find this outfit against a wall behind them. (Confirmation courtesy of PowerPyx.)

Drax outfit: Katathian Monk

Once you leave the burning camp, you’ll slide down a large ice tunnel. At the bottom, you’ll find a series of cliffs to your left with poison spores running along it. Destroy them and ascend upward to this outfit chest.

Chapter 14: Into the Fire outfits

There are eight outfits in Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy Chapter 14: Into the Fire.

Golden outfits

This chapter begins with all the Guardians of the Galaxy donning their gold outfits. Each team member will automatically unlock the following costumes:

• Star-Lord: Gold-Lord
• Drax: Golden Guardians
• Gamora: Golden Guardians
• Rocket: Golden Guardians
• Groot: Golden Guardians

Star-Lord: Team-Lord

If you pre-ordered the game, you’ll already have this outfit and you’ll find nothing here instead.

After defeating a few waves of enemies, you’ll enter a corridor with a large fan in it. Using your gun’s elemental powers, pull up the panels to stop the wind from knocking you into a pit. At the end of this section, you can climb a series of platforms above you to your left.

Once you reach the highest platform on that side of the room, look toward the opposite side of the tunnel. You’ll see an outfit chest across the way. Jump across when the wind isn’t blowing to grab it. (Confirmation courtesy of PowerPyx.)

Drax outfit: Five Horsemen of the Apocalypse

Partway through the mission, you’ll exit back outside the enemy ship and the area you walk into will be immediately bombed. After jumping across several gaps, Groot will form a bridge and you can continue forward up a wall. Before doing so, turn to your right and you’ll see this outfit chest on a high platform.

Make your way toward it and you’ll find an ice wall. Shoot through it with your guns’ fire ability and then make your way up and around this pillar to the chest.

Gamora outfit: Chosen Daughter

In the mines, there will be two sections where you need to create platforms with your guns’ ice abilities. The second time you need to do this, you’ll see mist to the left of the platform you just made. The areas you need to shoot will appear and disappear, so use your visor to see where you need to shoot.

You’ll need to create three ice platforms to find a gap in the wall you can push through. Inside you’ll find multiple components and this outfit.

New game plus outfits

Once you’ve completed the Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy game, these final two outfits are unlocked for for Star-Lord:

You can access these two outfits by starting a new game plus file.
