The Witcher 3’s ballyhooed next gen update adds two new sets of gear: the Dol Blathanna and White Tiger of the West sets. Both include swords and armor, and are included free with the update, but they don’t show up in your inventory automatically. Here’s how to unlock the new armor — and where to find it.

Cross-saving and your new gear

The new sets of armor and swords are rewards for signing into your GOG account — this is the same method you’d use for cross-platform saving.

You’ll need to head to the Royal Palace in Vizima — where you met (or will meet) up with Yennefer — to claim your new gear. You just have to find it first.

Royal Palace

You reach the Royal Palace in Vizima relatively early in a new game. If you’ve played past this point in the past, just fast travel back to the palace.

When you arrive, you’ll also get a note from Yennefer — Letter with Yennefer’s Instructions — that tells you were to find your new armor sets and gear.

When you exit the throne room, simply follow the covered walkway in the courtyard, turning right at the corner, then take the first door on your left. You’ll be inside a chamber with a fireplace. Take the door in the back right to the adjoining room. There, under the window, you’ll find the chest with your gift.

It’s... not super helpful. Instead, use the map above to guide you. You’re heading for the upper left (northwest) corner.

If you’re starting from a new game, you won’t be able to use your new gear right away. The Dol Blathanna gear — the Sword of a Thousand Flowers steel and White Widow of the Valley of Flowers silver swords, plus the Thousand Flowers armor, gauntlets, trousers, and boots — require level 7. The White Tiger of the West gear — the Nine-Tailed Vixen steel and silver swords, plus the White Tiger of the West armor, vambraces, trousers, and boots — require level 11.

The Dol Blathanna set (the Thousand Flowers gear) mainly gives a boost to the Aard and Igni signs. The White Tiger of the West gear is a little more generalized with boosts to vitality and adrenaline, resistance to elemental damage and poison, and an increased critical hit chance.
