Hitman 3 Death in the Family guide: Find the case file and the safe code

In this Hitman 3 guide, we’ll show you where to find the safe code in Alexa Carlisle’s office so you can retrieve the case file and complete the Mission. (If you’re only here for the code, scroll all the way to the bottom.)

Enter Alexa Carlisle’s office (unseen)

There are plenty of ways to get into Alexa Carlisle’s office regardless of how you complete the rest of the level. Below, we’ll show you a path that will take you from the main gate entrance and up to the office without being seen and without requiring disguises.

From the gate, duck into the bushes on the right, and follow the main path up toward the manor.

Cut to the left (south), pass behind the gardener, and continue along the wall until you come to a mansion guard and a gardener chatting.

You’ll be crouching in a bush, so you’ll be out of sight. Climb up the wall on your right, take a left, and head for the front of the closest vehicle.

Wait for the staff to finish talking, and they’ll both turn around. Skirt around the back (south-ish) of the cars to hedges on the far side. Vault the low wall — you’ll be looking at the hearse.

Cut left behind the hedge, and drop down off the wall into the bushes there. Follow along behind the two guards patrolling the path to your left.

You’re only going a little way here. Follow them to the next staircase. Look up it, and make sure the nearby guard isn’t looking at you. Head up the stairs, and cut left.

Snake between the cars and climb the green pipe. At the top, follow the ledge to the right, to the next pipe. Climb that one, too, and continue to the open window.

You’ll be inside Thornbridge Manor on Level 2 (and trespassing).

There are five guards and staff to handle before you can explore Alexa Carlisle’s office freely.

• As soon as you’re inside, crouch down and hide behind the chairs. Wait for the housekeeper to duck into the small room on the right. Follow her in and subdue her (there’s an armoire in the closet to the south where you can stash her).
• Head east into the bathroom. Turn on the record player (gramophone?) by the tub. Hide behind the tub, and wait for the staff member to come check it out. Subdue him, and stash his body back in the closet.
• Work through Alexa Carlisle’s bedroom using the furniture as cover until you can reach the other staff member. Subdue her, and stash her in the armoire to the right of the door. (If you need a weapon, there’s a fire poker next to the fireplace.)
• Step out into the hall and creep up on the mansion guard. Stuff him in the crate on your left.
• Continue across the hall to Alexa Carlisle’s office. There’s one last guard at the bottom of the stairs on your left. Throw something from the doorway to either distract him or knock him out. Dump his body in the crate under the stairs.

Head for the desk along the west side of the room. Use Instinct to find a button on the arm of Alexa’s chair. Push it, and turn to the left (south). A painting of a dog will slide away, revealing the safe.

Use your camera (or just interact with the safe) to get a good look at the symbols above it: a clock, a telescope, a fire, and a moose. These are items in the room.

Clock

The clock is on the south side of the room under the stairs. There’s a 1 right in front of it.

Telescope

Head up to the top of the stairs to find the telescope. There is a 9 on the wall next to it.

Fire

Back downstairs, walk up to the fireplace. There is a 7 on the back wall inside.

Moose

The moose head is above the door you entered through. You’ll have to do a little maneuvering to spot it, but there’s a 5 on the wall above it.

Take these numbers and punch them into the safe in order — 1975 — to find the case file.
