“Impulse Control” is a Mission Story in Hitman 3’s “End Of An Era” Mission. In Chongqing, China, Agent 47 must assume the role of a homeless person, replace the perfect test subject, and take part in Hush’s experiment in Chongqing.

In this Hitman 3 guide, we’ll walk you through every step you’ll need to take. Below, we’ve got maps showing where to start, important items to find, where every clue is, and every location you’ll need to visit. Eliminating Hush afterward is a bit of a pain, so we’re going to add a few steps to this Mission Story. This way, we’ll earn you a couple of Challenges and eliminate Hush without a lot of drama.

Mission Story Reveal
From Yuzhong Square, take the road east and up the ramp. At the top, take a left. You’ll spot a few homeless people having a conversation around a trash can fire under an overhang. Hear them out to start the “Impulse Control” Mission Story.
As you approach, grab the Future Progress Initiative flyer from the pallets, and then circle around the trio to grab a crowbar from behind them (you’ll need this in a minute).
Disguise yourself as a homeless person
Wait for the three to part ways. One will wander off down the street, the woman will stay where she is, and the third will step away to have a drink of water. Subdue him while he’s drinking, grab his clothes, and stash him in the crate to your left. Pick up the Future Progress Initiative flyer he drops.
Find the entrance to the homeless shelter
You’re looking for somewhere with the same symbol as the flyer the homeless person was carrying.
Head back down the ramp toward the square. At the bottom, turn right and you’ll be facing an alley. On the right side, you’ll see some graffiti with the symbol and The Block painted on the wall.
Head to the end of that alley and up the stairs. At the top, turn right and into The Block.
If you have anything illegal on you, you’ll want to get rid of it — you’re going to be frisked in a second. There’s a trash can around the corner to your left if you need to stash something.
Follow the guard // Get frisked // Wait for your turn // Take a seat
A couple of guards will greet you. Let one frisk you, and follow the other up the stairs. He’ll lead you to a waiting room.
Before you take your seat, grab the Future Progress Initiative flyer from the bulletin board to earn the Last Resort Discovery Challenge.
Sit in one of the chairs and wait.
You’ll get called over and told there’s no room for you. Take an apple when offered (you don’t need it for anything, but it’d be rude not to), and then let the guard lead you all the way back to the alley.
Find the test subject on the top floor
When you reach the alley, take a right and follow the building around to the right. A little way down the alley — watch for a civilian on the left side — there’s a pipe on the right. Climb up, and hop through the open window.
Take a left, and use your crowbar to pry open the gate. Take the stairs up.
At the top of the stairs, crouch and cross the hallway. There are three guards in the Derelict Apartments ahead of you. Only one is moving around, through, so just wait until that guy turns his back.
Cut through the apartment heading left (south), and then cross to the door along the right side. This will put you on a balcony. Turn right, and follow the balcony to the next door. Back inside, follow the hall all the way to the far end — just watch for the guards and use the walls and furniture for cover.
At the end of the hall, you’ll find a fuse cell on your left. Pick it up, and then climb out the window.
Climb the pipe up to the next floor and climb through the window. Turn right, and follow the hallway all the way to the far end again. There are a few researchers here, but you can slip past them easily. Go through the door at the end of the hall, and follow the balcony around to the second door.
Through that door, cut straight across the examination room, and turn left into the (surprisingly dingy) bathroom. Put on the researcher disguise you find there.
The next goal is to distract the enforcer researcher just around the corner. Step out of the bathroom, and overflow the sink. Go back into the bathroom and wait for a researcher to investigate. The first one won’t be the enforcer, so subdue him and dump him in the laundry bin.
Overflow the sink again. This time, the enforcer should come investigate (if she doesn’t, repeat the process one more time with the other researcher out of the way). Don’t subdue her, though (she has a role to play in the Mission Story’s ending).
Walk out of the bathroom to the right. Grab the lethal poison pill jar from her station, and continue north across the floor. Turn right, and take the stairs up again.
At the top of the stairs, watch for the security camera and turn left.
The next three steps will kill Hush after you complete the Mission Story. It’s easiest to get them out of the way now.
Cross to the west side of Hush’s Private Lab. Look for a whiteboard with a code written on it — 2552. Head through the door a little south and onto yet another balcony.
Turn left, and poison the ventilation system with the lethal poison pill jar. Turn around and head north along the walkway. Use the door code (2552) to unlock it.
There are two people inside, a researcher and a guard. The guard will keep his back turned, so subdue the researcher and stuff him in the nearby cabinet. Put the fuse cell into the fusebox.
Now, Hush will die after you complete the Mission Story.
Use the balcony walkway to return to Hush’s Private Lab.
Disguise yourself as the test subject//Inform the researcher that you are ready
Cut across to the east, and look for an unmarked bathroom — it’s over by where you entered this floor.
Step inside that bathroom, subdue the perfect test subject, and put on his disguise. Stash him in the cabinet.
Walk back into the lab, and approach the researcher. Tell Junli you’re ready to start testing.
Wait for everyone to arrive//Take a seat
Over the next couple minutes or so, you’ll have to wait for both Hush and a researcher named Sister Lei to arrive (she’s the one we spared earlier). When they’re there, take your seat to complete the “Impulse Control” Mission Story.
After his failure, Hush will head to his sensory deprivation machine. When he activates it, though, he’ll get poisoned, and you’ll earn the Deprivation Assassination Challenge as you escape.
If you’ve completed another Mission Story during a run, it seems like Hush will get stuck in his chair and never head for his sensory deprivation chamber. If this happens, throw something (out of sight) to trigger someone nearby to investigate. This seems to knock him loose.
