The Animaniacs are back in a new trailer that proves they’re still pretty zany

The Warners are back and they’re bringing Pinky and the Brain along with them

After 22 years off the air, Yakko, Wakko, and Dot will be coming back with new episodes of Animaniacs, and if the first trailer for the reboot on Hulu is any indication, the Warners don’t seem to have missed a beat.

If you watched any of Animaniacs back when it originally aired in the mid ’90s, you know exactly what to expect from the reboot. This trailer starts out with Yakko explaining earnestly to the camera everything that’s wrong with reboots and reboot culture, before the shot zooms out to show all three Warner siblings decked from head to toe in Hulu merchandise and getting handed a giant check for a reboot of their own.

From there, the trailer goes off in a hundred different directions as only the Animaniacs can. There are riffs on the original show’s iconic theme song, slapstick over-the-top violence, ridiculously specific Hollywood jokes, and movie references, all updated for 2020 without missing any of the original show’s manic energy. The trailer even throws in a few appearances from Pinky and the Brain as they continue their quest to take over the world, this time with social media — at least in one episode.

While this is the first trailer for the reboot that’s been released, there was a short Jurassic Park parody that Hulu released earlier this month that’s also worth watching. The clip outlines the whole reboot, including a few notes from the series’ executive producer Steven Spielberg.

This new reboot of the series will have 13 episodes, which will all be released on Hulu on Nov. 20.
