Immortals Fenyx Rising guide: The Secret of the Cyclops quest walkthrough

In this Immortals Fenyx Rising guide, we’ll walk you through the game’s “The Secret of the Cyclops” quest. You’ll complete the objectives, and you’ll find all of the collectible items, Epic and Guarded Chests, and gear hidden along the way.

Follow our walkthrough to find the Gorgon Armor Set that includes the Darkglare Mask, Darkglare Plate, Envy sword, Blight axe, Infestation bow, and the Wings of the Dreadful. We’ll help you solve Constellation Challenge and give you tips on defeating the boss, Polyphemus the Enraged.

Approach the edge of the cliff

After your introduction to fighting, follow the path east to the temple to … the edge of the cliff.

Ambrosia

From the cliff’s edge, turn right (south) toward the large statue with an outstretched arm. Hop across the stream and climb up to her shoulders. Make your way up to her shoulder, and then climb to her palm. Collect the Ambrosia, an upgrade item that increases your health (bar).

Reach the Island of the Sirens

Drop back down to the temple with the blowing faces. Let them blow you to the tall structure about halfway to the next island.

Guarded Chest: Envy (Sword)

Fight and defeat the three enemies. You’ll get a tip about using parry against them. This is most useful against the guy with the shield. Parrying will stun him for a second, and he’ll drop his guard.

Open the chest for Envy, a sword with a 22% chance to triple damage during a Sword Air Combo (three hits with your sword while airborne).

Obtain the Sirens’ Song

Hop off the structure and keep gliding east. When you land on the beach, you’ll get the “Obtain the Sirens’ Song” objective.

Climb the stairs until you hit a wall. Grab the Blue Mushrooms on your way up — you’ll turn these into Stamina Potions later.

Ambrosia

At the top of the wall, climb the golden statue to grab another piece of Ambrosia from her hand.

Chest: Golden Amber

Follow the stairs up to a pool of water. Fight the enemies and collect anything you see. Look to the east for a golden-ish and crumbling wall. Smash through it with your axe.

Inside, grab the Pomegranates — you’ll turn these into Health Potions later. Stand on the disk to the left of the statue.

Fire an arrow through the grate at the target. This will open the door to the right. Head through to grab some Golden Amber, an item that will upgrade your potion-making abilities (but you won’t be able to use them during the Immortals Fenyx Rising Stadia demo).

Epic Chest: Darkglare Mask and Darkglare Plate

Keep following the path up. You’ll get a tutorial on Stealth Attacks. Once all the enemies are handled, open the chest for the Darkglare Mask, which increases your defense by 20%, and the Darkglare Plate, which increases your health by one … chunk.

Yellow and Blue Adamantine Shards

Head back to the top of the stairs, and turn south. Climb the wall to find a Yellow Adamantine Shard crystal. From there, jump out of the window and glide south.

Climb to the highest point of the island to find a Blue Adamantine Shard.

You’ll use the various colors of Adamantine Shard (Yellow, Blue, Red, and Purple) for upgrades to your gear. You can learn more about them in our Immortals Fenyx Rising item guide. (Sadly, you can’t use any of them during the Stadia demo.)

Glide back to the north and return to the Island of the Sirens.

Epic Chest: Blight (Axe)

From the Darkglare Mask and Plate Epic Chest, turn slightly right and head down the path to the edge of the cliff. Throw the lever and ride the wind and updrafts across to the island off to the southeast.

You’ll land near the base of a statue where you’ll find this chest. Open it for Blight, an axe that deals +45% damage to stunned enemies.

There’s a matching lever on this island that will return you to the Island of the Sirens.

Purple Adamantine Shards

Keep following the path up the hill. Just before you reach the next large structure, watch for a path along your right. It’ll lead past several piles of pillows and arbors(?). At the end of the path, climb the small cliff for some Purple Adamantine Shards.

Ambrosia

Keep following this path and climb to the the very highest point of the island. There’s a large statue here. Glide back down where you took that right turn, and you’ll find more Ambrosia.

Constellation Challenge puzzle

Keep climbing up the stairs until you spot a deer (probably a Golden Hind to keep with the theme). Handle the Roosters of the Sea it turns into.

When they’re cleared out, you’ll be standing in front of a grid with 16 holes, three blue balls, and an answer key on the wall in front of you. Your job is to match the blue balls’ locations to the constellation on the wall. When a ball is in the right slot, the corresponding star lights up on the key.

There are three balls here, but you’ll need five to solve the puzzle. Let’s find the missing two, starting with the path to the right (north).

Missing ball 1: Right path

Head off to the right and up the stairs. At the top, pick up the metal box, and place it on the switch on the ground. This drops the red force field in front of you.

Head inside and pick up the next metal box. Hold down the right trigger to aim, and look up and to the left. There’s a hole in the wall to throw the box through. Toss it through, and it’ll land on the next switch. Head into the small alcove on the right side of the room for the next blue ball. Take it back and place it.

Missing ball 2: Left path

From the puzzle, head up the stairs on the left. Take out the enemies at the top.

There are two switches this time, labeled with a feather and an anvil. There are two metal boxes marked with a bear and an eye(?). Place the (heavy) bear box on the anvil switch, and the (light) eye box on the feather switch. This will drop the red force field in the middle of the room and let you get at the blue ball.

Take it down and place it to solve the puzzle. This will unlock the lyre, and let you collect the Sirens’ Song.

Pomegranates

Once you have the lyre, head back up the stairs on the left to where you picked up the second blue ball, and follow the path up the stairs.

At the end of the path, fight the enemies, and pick up the Pomegranates from the baskets by the statue.

Epic Chest: Wings of the Dreadful

Head west from the Sirens’ Song, and you’ll run into a pair of red harpies(?). Take them out, and open the chest for the Wings of the Dreadful. These don’t have stats, so they’re purely cosmetic.

Return to the Cyclop’s Island

Continue west from that Epic Chest. There are a few carved faces blowing wind. Use them to glide west.

You’ll make it to the tower where you picked up the Envy sword earlier, but one floor lower. Here, you’ll find some Yellow Adamantine Shards.

Odysseus Challenge

Head to the golden ruins in the southwest corner of the beach. Climb up to the second floor for some Pomegranates.

Look down to the ground for a bow and arrow disk to stand on. Do that, and face north. Your goal here is to fire an Apollo’s Arrow — an arrow you can control like a drone — through the rings of 15 axes (three more than Odysseus managed), and crash it into a brazier at the top of the hill to the north.

Make small adjustments as you’re flying to avoid crashing the arrow, and try to spot your next set of axes early so you know where you’re headed. When you’re successful in lighting the brazier, a chest will open at the top of the hill.

Epic Chest: Infestation (bow)

Follow the arrow’s path up the hill to the north. You’ll run into some enemies on the beach about halfway there. Handle them, and then continue up the hill.

Open the chest for Infestation, a bow that deals an additional 22.5% damage to Charged Shots.

Cauldron of Circe

Keep following the path up the mountain. It will lead you past a Cauldron of Circe, marked with a purple potion vial on your map.

These cauldrons let you turn stuff you’ve collected into potions. This is also where you’ll cash in Golden Amber to upgrade your potions.

• Attack Potion (purple). Uses 6 Olympian Figs. Increase attack by 40% for 90 seconds. Refills 5% health when hit.
• Defense Potion (yellow). Uses 6 Flower Nectar. Increases defense by 40% for 90 seconds. Inflicts 200 damage on attacking enemies.
• Health Potion (red). Uses 5 Pomegranates. Refills 6 Health Chunks.
• Stamina Potion (blue). Uses 5 Blue Mushrooms. Refills 3 Stamina Chunks.

Make as many potions as you can, and then move on.

Purple Adamantine Shards

From the cauldron, keep following the path up. Jump the gaps and use the updrafts to glide your way around the island. (You’ll pick up a bunch of Blue Mushrooms along the way.) Eventually, you’ll come to a huge root-branch next to waterfall.

Hop down to the ledge behind the waterfall to find a cave. Inside, grab the Purple Adamantine Shards.

Pomegranates

From the cave, head south. There are several Blue Mushrooms that mark a path up the cliff and giant mushroom platforms.

Keep heading south to find a clearing with an inert mechanical man who vaguely looks like the Iron Giant (this is probably Talos, if we remember our Greek myths correctly). Grab the Pomegranates from his hands.

You can return to the Cauldron of Circe to make a few more potions at this point.

Follow the Blue Mushrooms

From Talos, face northwest. Follow the root-branch around the cliff. From here, you’ll keep following the cliff along a path marked by Blue Mushrooms. These will lead you most of the rest of the way around the island, and back up to the top. The benefit of following this path is that you’ll never need to use a Stamina Potion.

Just keep following the Blue Mushrooms (and collecting them) until you climb onto the top of the island.

Ambrosia

Once you reach the top of the cliff, turn north and keep climbing up to the highest point of the island. Grab the Ambrosia by the tree.

Free Polyphemos from Circe’s curse

Glide down to where you started this whole quest — where Polyphemos the cyclops is frozen. As soon as you touch down, you’ll trigger a cutscene, and then a fight.

Polyphemus the Enraged boss fight tips

• Equip the Envy sword and Blight axe you picked up earlier.
• Start the fight by throwing anything you can. Throwing a rock or chunk of pillar deals more damage faster than using your sword.
• Polyphemus will tend do three swing attacks in a row. The first two will be normal attacks, and the third be a glowing, red, unblockable attack. The red attack will smash into the ground and send a wave of damage in a straight line away from him.
• When you do have to move in close, dodge a lot to stay behind Polyphemus. Getting a perfect dodge on one of his red attacks will slow time, and give you lots of space to deal damage.
• Double jump while swinging Envy as much as possible to take advantage of its bonus to Air Strike Combos.
• Your goal should be to drive up Polyphemus’ stun gauge by dealing as much damage as you can, and then swinging with Blight (the axe) to take advantage of the +45% damage to stunned enemies.
