Pick a direction and pray you find it, while looking out for the large rocky cliffs

After exploring caves in the grassland in Lego Fortnite, you’ll need to make your way to the desert “dry valley” biome to get new materials like rough amber or specific enemy drops.

Those playing in sandbox mode will be able to fly around and quickly find these biomes, but if you’re trying to progress in the survival mode, you may have a difficult time. Below we give tips for finding the desert biome in Lego Fortnite.

How to find the desert in Lego Fortnite

Unfortunately, there are no specific indicators that will point you to a desert biome from afar. You can get on top of high points, or try to build stairs all the way up to the sky to look for a desert nearby, but if there’s none near you, you’ll just have to pick a direction and start walking. It sucks to say, but you’ll just need patience to find those rocky cliffs.

Some people have noted that walking in the direction opposite a snowy biome may lead you to the desert, but this hasn’t worked 100% of for me. I’ve stumbled upon beaches via this method — so I can’t confirm this as a working fix, but it wouldn’t hurt to try it.

Ultimately, finding a desert in Lego Fortnite all depends on your seed. I’ve had a seed where I had to head very far south from the spawn point (like, several maps away) to find the desert. I’ve also had seeds where a desert almost fully encircles my snow and grass biomes.

The desert biome is indicated by cacti, sand, and tall rocky cliffs — you’ll know once you see it. (For visual reference, refer to the screenshot at the top of this post.) If you’re super unlucky like I was, you’ll have to walk a long while before you get to the desert, but don’t give up.

How to prepare for the desert in Lego Fortnite

The desert both has hot and cold temperatures, so you may want to use charms or food that grants you temperature resistance. It’ll be hot during the day and cold at night — though admittedly my desert was only hot in certain areas. I was able to grab rough amber without building any heat resistance, and holding a torch was enough for me to gain cold resistance when night fell.

If your desert is a hike and a half away like ours, bring lots of food and tools so you can stay in the desert and farm as many materials as humanly possible before coming back.
