In Marvel’s Avengers, every hero has four major stat ratings at the top of their gear page: range, melee, defense, and heroic rating. These determine how good that hero is in certain areas of combat. But you determine the rating — and subsequent bonuses — by equipping gear with various stats.
You can find these stat values on your gear in the upper right corner of the tooltip. Legendary and Epic pieces of loot tend to have two to three different stats per piece. Some stats impact multiple ratings, while others only impact one.
In this Marvel’s Avengers guide, we’ll take a quick look at each stat, how they impact your ratings, and what attributes they improve.
Might
Impacts: Melee Rating
Might is a melee only stat that directly impacts your character’s melee damage and the charge rate of their Ultimate Heroic ability.
Valor
Impacts: Melee Rating, Ranged Rating, Heroic Rating
Valor appears on every rating except Defense. It impacts how powerful your Heroic abilities are and how much damage your critical strikes deal.
Proficiency
Impacts: Melee Rating, Ranged Rating
Proficiency increases both damage dealing ratings. It dictates your hero’s critical chance and chance for various gear perks to activate.
Resilience
Impacts: Defense Rating, Heroic Rating
Resilience is a defensive stat, and it appears on both the Defense Rating and the Heroic Rating. It dictates how much armor your hero has — for decreasing damage taken — and how quickly your Support Heroic ability recharges.
Resolve
Impacts: Defense Rating
Your Resolve only impacts your Defense Rating. It determines how much health your hero has and how quickly their health recovers with health packs and other healing means.
Precision
Impacts: Ranged Rating
Precision is your ranged-only stat, similar to Resolve and Might. It dictates ranged damage and how quickly your Assault Heroic ability charges.
Intensity
Impacts: Heroic Rating
Intensity only impacts your Heroic rating, and it’s mostly utility focused. Intensity determines how quickly you build the enemy stun meter and infect them with status effects.
