When crossing through the Nether, Minecraft players will have to be careful as there’s lava just about everywhere. One way to safely traverse the lava is using a Strider.
Striders are passive monsters that spawn in the Nether and can be mounted using Saddles. Saddles cannot be crafted and are found inside chests from Bastions, Dungeons, Strongholds, Villages, and other structures found around the world.
To control a Strider, you’ll need a Warped Fungus on a Stick. These can be made by combining a Fishing Rod and a Warped Fungus, the latter of which can be found around the Nether. The durability of the Warped Fungus on a Stick will go down as you use it, so if you’re crossing lots of lava at once, it may be a good idea to carry multiple on you.
Similarly to how animals will follow you when you hold up Wheat or Seeds, Striders will follow you when you hold up Warped Fungus. You can lure them over to you using this before you mount them.
Note that Striders are extremely slow on land and take damage from water, so they’re mainly good for exploring large ravines of lava in the Nether.
