In Monster Hunter Rise, you have to run across several different locales to defeat monsters. While most of the maps aren’t very large, it still takes a bit of time to travel across them. Thankfully, you can locate several sub-camps throughout each stage that act as fast travel locations.

In this Monster Hunter Rise guide, we’ll show you how to locate and unlock all sub-camps in Shrine Ruins, Frost Islands, Sandy Plains, Flooded Forest, and Lava Caverns. We’ll use detailed maps to highlight the exact area to look for each fast travel location. Finally, we’ll explain how to unlock each one.

How to unlock fast travel locations

When you start a hunt in Monster Hunter Rise, you will spawn at the bottom of the map. From there, you must travel by foot or via palamute to your target monster. However, in each map there are either one or two sub-camps to unlock.

Once you locate a sub-camp, you’ll receive a quest for Kagero the Merchant when you return the village. Sub-camps do not instantly unlock after you’ve located them.

After speaking with the shopkeeper, they will give you a different mission to complete depending on which sub-camp you find. You may have to slay several small creatures or deliver a few items to the merchant. Only after you complete the quest can you use the sub-camp location.

To fast travel to a sub-camp location after it’s been unlocked, hold the Minus (-) button down, and then press A to access the fast travel menu. From there you can choose a sub-camp to move to. Once selected, you’ll hop on a wirebug and fly over to the the sub-camp.

Keep in mind that there is no blue item box at sub-camps, so you can’t pick up any free quest items once you’re there. However there will be a tent at your sub-camp after you’ve unlocked it, so you can access items from your larger item box or switch out your equipment.

Lastly, you cannot deliver anything to a sub-camp, like eggs or other large items. If you want to deliver something, you’ll have to take it all the way back to the bottom of the map and use the blue box there.
