Michael B. Jordan is Rainbow Six’s future commander in new Tom Clancy movie

Without Remorse hits Prime Video on April 30

Michael B. Jordan (Black Panther, Creed) will take on the role of U.S. Navy SEAL John Clark in Amazon’s action film adaptation of Tom Clancy’s Without Remorse. Clark is the future commander of Rainbow, the secret multinational counter-terrorist unit that’s central to Ubisoft’s Rainbow Six series of video games, and Without Remorse serves as an origin story for Clancy’s enduring action hero.

Without Remorse is based on the 1993 novel of the same name, and tells the story of John Kelly — the character’s original name — who uncovers an international conspiracy while on a revenge-fueled mission. John Clark was central in the follow-up to Without Remorse, 1998’s Rainbow Six, and has appeared in dozens of Clancy novels, TV shows, and games. The character was previously portrayed by actors Willem Dafoe in Clear and Present Danger and Liev Schreiber in The Sum of All Fears.

Here’s Amazon’s official story synopsis for Without Remorse:

When a squad of Russian soldiers kills his family in retaliation for his role in a top-secret op, Sr. Chief John Kelly (Michael B. Jordan) pursues the assassins at all costs. Joining forces with a fellow SEAL (Jodie Turner-Smith) and a shadowy CIA agent (Jamie Bell), Kelly’s mission unwittingly exposes a covert plot that threatens to engulf the U.S. and Russia in an all-out war. Torn between personal honor and loyalty to his country, Kelly must fight his enemies without remorse if he hopes to avert disaster and reveal the powerful figures behind the conspiracy.

Without Remorse is directed by Stefano Sollima, who directed HBO’s Gomorrah and Sicario: Day of the Soldado. (Sollima was also once attached to a Call of Duty movie.) The Tom Clancy action-thriller hits Amazon Prime Video April 30.
