Enola Holmes and her large adult brother, Sherlock, are coming to Netflix once more. An Enola Holmes sequel has been greenlit, reports The Hollywood Reporter, and will reunite stars Millie Bobby Brown and Henry Cavill as teen genius Enola Holmes and her more famous consulting detective brother, Sherlock.
Details are scant, but the creative team behind the first movie — namely, writer Jack Thorne (who is also behind the HBO/BBC adaptation of His Dark Materials) and director Harry Bradbeer (who has recently worked on a stretch of excellent TV series like Fleabag and Ramy) — is also returning, which likely means that if you liked the original, the sequel is probably going to be for you as well.
Enola Holmes was a surprise hit for Netflix, a winning YA adventure that also served as an excellent showcase for Stranger Things star Millie Bobby Brown. Based on The Enola Holmes Mysteries book series by Nancy Springer, the first movie introduced Enola as she ventured out into London to solve mysteries against the wishes of her brothers Mycroft and Sherlock, who wanted her to go to finishing school. The result was a fun, if a bit light, adventure with lots of hijinks and derring-do — and the beefiest take on Sherlock Holmes ever committed to the screen.
None of these things are complaints, and we’re very much looking forward to more.
