New Pokémon Snap guide: Glowing Pokémon, explained

The normal glowing Pokémon that you find around aren’t super special, but the large Pokémon at Illumina Spots are

As you take pictures in New Pokémon Snap, you’ll notice a handful of glowing Pokemon roaming around. These Pokémon glow from the Illumina flowers around the island. You will not get more points for taking photos of them.

You will get more points for photos of Pokémon reacting to Illumina Orbs, though. Sometimes throwing Illumina Orbs at Pokémon causes a special interaction, whether that means a new pose or the discovery of a completely new Pokémon.

The large, special Pokémon found at Illumina Spots are different from the glowing Swanna or Quagsire you see around normally. Throw Illumina Orbs at the big Illumina Spot Pokémon to take photos of them with their full potential. You’ll know when you’ve thrown enough orbs when a swirl pattern appears on their bodies.

When you first encounter the Pokémon at Illumina Spots, you’ll only be able to submit photos of them when they’re fully glowing, so make sure to get them to light up before you snap photos. When you revisit the areas later, get them glowing as much as possible. Their glow will lure in new Pokémon, and they’ll pose in different ways depending on where you are on the route.
