In New Pokémon Snap, each of the Lental region’s areas has its own huge Illumina Pokémon. Voluca’s Illumina Pokémon is a set of two Volcarona who quickly fly through the air, while on fire.
On your first visit to the Voluca Illumina Spot, you need to photograph Volcarona while the Illumina effect is in action. You can activate it by throwing a couple of Illumina Orbs at it, but its fiery shields will prevent them from landing at first.
To put out the fires, hit them with a Fluffruit. After hitting them multiple times, their fire shields will go down, and you’ll be able to make it glow using Illumina Orbs. Once the Illumina effect kicks in, they’ll do a little flip, and their wings will glow green.
Hitting the Volcarona can be hard, but you only need to really focus on one at first. Throw a ton of Fluffruit ahead of where the Volcarona is flying, and don’t let the second one distract you until the first one has the Illumina effect.
As they both fly to different parts of the volcano, the Illumina effect will wear off, and their flame shields will come back up, so you’ll need to repeat the process to get them to glow again.
Keeping the Illumina Pokémon glowing is important, as it’ll pose in new ways, use abilities, or even bring out new Pokémon to photograph.
On your second visit to the Voluca Illumina Spot, you’ll see more Pokémon there, like Monferno and Archeops.
