Every one of Nier Replicant ver.1.22474487139…’s 33 weapons can be strengthened to upgrade its attack power, increase your magic power while wielding it, and (possibly) increase its weight and decrease its speed. You can upgrade every weapon three times.
In this Nier Replicant remake guide, we’ll explain where you’ll go to upgrade your weapons, the stats you’ll be upgrading, and the kinds of materials you’ll need.
Where to upgrade your weapons
To upgrade weapons, visit Jakob in the Junk Heap: Outside area.
As you enter Junk Heap: Outside from the Northern Plain, Jakob and his brother Gideon are in the house on the left (west) side of the road.
Speak to Jakob to strengthen your weapons. He’ll sell you some (but not all) of the upgrade materials you’ll need. You can also sell anything to him if you need some cash.
Upgraded weapon stats
Every weapon you wield in the Nier Replicant remake has three stats: Attack power, magic power, and weight.
- Attack power is what it says on the tin. It’s your physical damage with that weapon.
- Magic power is a boost to your magic attacks — the Sealed Verses you collect for Grimoire Weiss.
- Weight relates to both the weapon’s speed and damage. Heavier weapons deal more damage, but swing more slowly.
Upgrade materials
The first upgrade material you’ll need for the Nameless Blade (and most early weapons) is titanium alloy. You’ll collect this from the robots inside the Junk Heap, especially those on the lower floors.
Each weapon and each level upgrade requires its own set of upgrade materials. A lot of the metal materials like stripped bolts or metal arms come from robots in the Junk Heap. Other materials can come from anywhere else in the Nier Replicant remake’s world. Keep an eye out for materials to gather in each new area you visit.
