Snipperclips is Nintendo’s new adorable co-op puzzle game for the Switch

Watch 13 minutes of gameplay footage

One of the newest games coming to the Nintendo Switch is Snipperclips: Cut it Out, Together!, an adorable, cooperative puzzle game that takes place in a notebook.

Nintendo’s Treehouse team showed off first footage of the game, which can be seen above, during a stream today. There are two versions of the game: one for two-player co-op and another that allows up to four people to jump in. For the demonstration, two Treehouse members partnered up for the co-op mode.

In this version of the game, players take control of Snip (the red blob) and Clip (the yellow blob). Each character is essentially armed with a pair of invisible scissors that allows them to cut away at their own body or their friend’s in order to transform into a specific shape. As seen in the video above, the goal for some of the earlier puzzles is to get the characters to come together and create a unique shape, like a heart. Players can recut their characters’ shapes at will, and can reverse different snips if a mistake has been made.

In other puzzles, players must use their cutting abilities to move objects around. In one round, the two players have to scoop up a basketball and shoot it into a hoop. As seen in the gameplay demo, it’s a lot harder than it looks, with the two players deciding to move on from the level without accomplishing the task. In another round, the two blobs had to work together to get a pencil into a sharpener. According to the Treehouse team, there are a number of possibilities for each puzzle and creativity is rewarded.

Snipperclips: Cut it Out, Together! will be released in March. The Nintendo Switch launches on March 3 for $299.
