Mario Tennis Aces’ version 2 update will launch on Wednesday Sept. 19, bringing with it new playable characters and co-operative multiplayer.

Two of the new characters were already announced — Birdo (an all-arounder) and Koopa Paratroopa (a technical type). The other two are Shy Guy (also technical) and Petey Piranha (powerful).

These players may be acquired by playing Mario Tennis Aces’ online multiplayer; the game has previewed new playable characters this way in the past.

Additionally, new co-operative multiplayer modes will be coming with the Sept. 19 update. These games, supporting up to four players, will be available for a limited time, and completing their objectives will award the player new costumes and alternate color schemes.
