In Polygon’s No More Heroes 3 boss battle guide, we’ll show you how to defeat Kimmy Love. We’ll demystify each phase of this rap concert battle by explaining the boss’s attacks, showing you how to avoid taking damage, and sharing general tips, tricks, and strategies.

Kimmy Love: Phase 1

Before you can even fight Vanishing Point, the seventh-ranked alien in your quest to the top, Kimmy Love defeats him swiftly. She then becomes your opponent on the stage of her own concert.

In the first phase of the Kimmy Love boss battle in No More Heroes 3, your new opponent uses a handful of basic attacks from her double beam katana. She also has a jumping strike to watch out for. You can block and dodge most of these attacks.

Partway through this phase, your enemy may disappear from the stage. When she emerges, she lights up the stage’s pyrotechnics. Dodge the walls of flame as they come out of the ground.

Kimmy Love: Phase 2

When the next part of the Kimmy Love boss battle in No More Heroes 3 begins, your opponent disappears off stage again. When she does this, the giant dolls on stage shoot lasers out of their eyes. Much of this phase is like the first except you must dodge both the pyrotechnics and lasers as the fight goes on.

Kimmy also adds a headlock counterattack during this phase. When she grabs you, mash the A button to get out.

Just like the other two phases of the Kimmy Love boss battle in No More Heroes 3, this section begins with the enemy disappearing again. In her absence, the lasers from the dolls begin following you. Keep moving to avoid getting hit.

When your enemy returns, she performs familiar attacks. However, the in-game camera eventually gets captured by a drone. When this happens, the game’s perspective switches to a drone flying around the concert. Destroy the drone to regain normal control of the camera again.
