Gaze upon the realm of Dark Souls, in one single image

Owen S. Good is a longtime veteran of video games writing, well known for his coverage of sports and racing games.

Earlier today we showed you one artist's rendering of Skyrim as a subway map. Now, here is Lordran, the realm of Dark Souls, fit for a tapestry.

This is the work of Judson Cowan, an artist some may remember from concept art he developed for a game he — deliberately — will never make. This is his latest project, and he's been putting some serious time into it. It began in May last year, and in January, an unfinished version (an excerpt of the world, so to speak) caught attention on Reddit.

Now the entire thing is complete, from New Londo Ruins (the lowest point) to Anor Londo (the highest). We've thumbnailed it below but, really, do yourselves a favor, zoom in and view it full size at Cowan's site. The level of detail is simply remarkable, and will bring back plenty of your own memories of playing through Dark Souls.

For those inclined, prints (for $12) are available here and here.
