Vampyr TV series in the works at Fox

Dontnod Entertainment

Dontnod Entertainment’s Vampyr is being adapted for television by Fox 21, the studio behind series like Sons of Anarchy and Homeland. Joining Fox 21 in the series adaptation are Wonderland Sound & Vision, the production studio founded by Charlie’s Angels director McG, and DJ2 Entertainment, which is co-producing the upcoming Sonic the Hedgehog movie.

DJ2 Entertainment is also working on another Dontnod project, Life Is Strange, which is also being adapted for television.

Vampyr tells the story of Dr. Jonathan Reid, a World War I-era British surgeon who is turned into a vampire and forced to hunt for prey amid an historic and deadly flu outbreak.

“We believe [Vampyr] is a fantastic premise for a television show,” Dontnod CEO Oskar Guilbert said in an official statement. “This is a new and exciting way for fans of the game, as well as the uninitiated, to enter and engage with Vampyr’s rich, deep story. We cannot wait to see how the talented team at Fox21 will bring out the darkly atmospheric universe of our game into television.”

Vampyr is available on PlayStation 4, Windows PC and Xbox One. For more on the game, read our early impressions of Vampyr.
