Pokémon Go: A Colossal Discovery research guide

There’s a Special Research, “A Colossal Discovery,” available to Pokémon Go players who bought the event pass.

The tasks all involve catching the Regi trio, which is spawning throughout the weekend. For players who buy the pass, logging on on Nov. 2 from 11 a.m. until 7 p.m. in their local time zones will activate this quest line. After the weekend ends, players who bought the pass and still have the Special Research will be able to complete them through other means.

Players who do not buy the ticket for $7.99 will get a chance to catch Regigigas in EX raids after the event.

Step 1

• Catch a Regirock, Regice or Registeel from a Raid (3,000 XP)
• Catch 7 rock-type Pokémon (Cranidos encounter)
• Evolve 7 rock-type Pokémon (Tyranitar encounter)

Reward: Three Golden Razz Berries, 3,000 Stardust and 10 Great Balls

Step 2

• Catch a Regirock, Regice or Registeel from a Raid (3,000 XP)
• Catch 7 ice-type Pokémon (Lapras encounter)
• Evolve 7 ice-type Pokémon (Abomasnow encounter)

Reward: Sinnoh Stone, 3,000 Stardust and 10 Great Balls

Step 3

• Catch a Regirock, Regice or Registeel from a Raid (3,000 XP)
• Catch 7 steel-type Pokémon (Shieldon encounter)
• Evolve 7 steel-type Pokémon (Steelix encounter)

Reward: Unova Stone, 3,000 Stardust, and 10 Great Balls

Step 4

• Take a snapshot of Regirock (3,000 XP)
• Take a snapshot of Regice (3,000 XP)
• Take a snapshot of Registeel (3,000 XP)

Reward: Regigigas encounter, 10 Regigigas candy, and an avatar post
