Lugia is coming back to Pokémon Go raids for a limited time, alongside Ho-oh.

The water- and flying-type bird will only be in raids from Dec. 20 at 4 p.m. ET until Dec. 24 at 4 p.m. ET.

Lugia is weak against, dark-, ghost-, electric-, ice-, and rock-type Pokémon. We recommend any of the following counters:

  • Tyranitar with Smack Down and Stone Edge
  • Zapdos with Charge Beam and Thunderbolt
  • Weavile with Feint Attack and Foul Play

Darkrai will also work wonderfully, if you managed to grab one the last time it came around. Gengar will also do a lot of damage with Shadow Claw or Lick with Shadow Ball, but it’ll likely die quickly.

Lugia is a pretty good flying-type attacker, but it doesn’t learn a flying-type Quick Move. Set it up with Extrasensory and Sky Attack and it’ll do quite a bit of damage against fighting-type targets.
