Pokémon Go Holiday Event 2019 guide: field research and rewards

More ice-type and holiday Pokémon will be spawning until Jan. 1

Pokémon Go’s Holiday Event is kicking off, bringing holiday-themed Pokémon with it. The event formally starts on Dec. 24 at 12 a.m. in your local time.

Special Stantler with bells around their necks are spawning, as well as cute Pikachu with beanies. Other ice-type Pokémon also will have boosted spawn rates.

In addition to the special Stantler being available Shiny, Snover and its evolution, Abomasnow, are available Shiny for the first time.

Throughout the event, players will be able to carry and open twice as many gifts as usual, and you’ll get a single-use Incubator every day if you spin a Poké Stop. There will also be bonus perks throughout the different days:

  • Dec. 24-25: Doubled catch and transfer Candy
  • Dec. 26-27: Doubled catch Stardust
  • Dec. 28-29: Doubled catch XP
  • Dec. 30-Jan. 1: Halved egg hatch distance

Cubchoo and Cryogonal are also appearing in the game for the first time. Both Pokémon can be found freely in the wild, with Cryogonal also appearing around Glacial Lures and Cubchoo being a reward for one of the event field research tasks.
