The Eggstravaganza event in Pokémon Go has begun, and it brings Field Research Tasks, Shiny Buneary, and more baby Pokémon hatching out of eggs.

Buneary have an increased rate to be Shiny during this event, and they spawn more frequently. Make sure to check every fluffy rabbit you see, even if you don’t necessarily want or need more Buneary candy. After the event ends, Shiny Buneary and Lopunny will be added to the game permanently, but will be obtainable at a much lower rate.

Players have also spotted Shiny Igglybuff hatching from eggs for the first time, which means that Shiny Jigglypuff and Wigglytuff have been added to the game. It’s a little hard to tell the difference between the normal and Shiny forms for these ‘mons, so make sure to keep your eyes out for those little sparkles that appear.

The pool of two kilometer eggs have changed for this event, to have more baby Pokémon. Pichu, Cleffa, Igglybuff, Togepi, Smoochum, Elekid, Magby, Azurill, Wynaut, and Budew have been added to two kilometer eggs with a chance to hatch Shiny. Chingling, Bonsly, Tyrogue, Happiny, Munchlax, Riolu, and Mantyke have also been added to the two kilometer eggs, but have no Shiny forms yet. Note that Mime Jr. is the only baby Pokémon to not be added to any egg pool. That’s likely because its evolved form, Mr. Mime, is a regional Pokémon native to Europe. To see an updated list of all the egg pools, you can check out this page by The Silph Road.

While Pokémon like Pichu and Smoochum might be considered Pokédex fillers, hatching Budew, Happiny, Munchlax, Riolu, Elekid, and Magby should be helpful for all trainers who are trying to power up and evolve their final evolutions. Roserade, Blissey, Snorlax, Lucario, Magmortar, and Electivire are good assets for any team.

Eggstravaganza Field Research

Research Task Reward
Research Task Reward
Eggstravaganza: Hatch an egg Buneary spawn
Eggstravaganza: Hatch three eggs Azumarill spawn
Eggstravaganza: Hatch five eggs Chansey spawn

Keep in mind that the task needs to have “Eggstravaganza” in the name in order to give these rewards. Similar tasks without the event in the name will reward different Pokémon: Exeggcute or Snubbull for one egg, and a Magmar for three eggs.

To make this all easier, Incubators are now two times as effective, so you’ll be hatching eggs in half the usual time. There’s also double candy rewarded from hatches and Lucky Eggs last twice as long.

This Pokémon Go event lasts until April 23 at 4 p.m. ET, so get hatching.
