Pokémon Go Animation Week 2020 event guide: Timed Research and rewards

Pokémon Go is hosting an in-game event to celebrate the Pokémon Journeys anime, including some specific spawns and Timed Research.

The event will run from Nov. 6 until Nov. 12 and increases the spawn for anime-related Pokémon, like Scyther, Cubone, Meowth, and Croagunk. A Pikachu wearing a special hat will also be available during the event.

There’s also a set of Timed Research available during the event with a whopping 11 steps. It rewards a Lucky Egg and TMs, so it’s worth doing if you’re in need of new moves or XP.

Animation Week 2020 Timed Research

Step 1 of 11

• Catch 5 Pokémon (3 Razz Berries)
• Transfer a Pokémon (3 Super Potions)
• Make 3 nice throws (5 Poké Balls)

Reward: Event Pikachu encounter, 500 Stardust, 500 XP

Step 2 of 11

• Battle another trainer (3 Hyper Potions)
• Battle in a raid (3 Revives)
• Win a raid (1 Incense)

Reward: 1 Sinnoh Stone, 500 Stardust, 500 XP

Step 3 of 11

• Defeat Team Go Rocket Grunts (20 Venusaur Mega Energy)
• Catch 2 Pokémon with weather boost (20 Venusaur Mega Energy)
• Catch 3 grass-type Pokémon (20 Venusaur Mega Energy)

Reward: Ivysaur encounter, 500 Stardust, 500 XP

Step 4 of 11

• Give your buddy 3 treats (5 Razz Berries)
• Earn a heart with your buddy (5 Pinap Berries)
• Earn a Candy walking with your buddy (5 Nanab Berries)

Reward: Snorlax encounter, 500 Stardust, 500 XP

• Catch 3 bug-type Pokémon (3 Pinap Berries)
• Use 3 berries to help catch Pokémon (3 Great Balls)
• Make an excellent throw (Venonat encounter)

• Battle in a gym 2 times (1 Fast TM)
• Win a gym battle (Hariyama encounter)
• Battle another trainer (3 Super Potions)

Reward: 1 Charged TM, 500 Stardust, 500 XP

• Hatch an egg (Tentacool encounter)
• Spin 3 PokéStops or gyms (Croagunk encounter)
• Spin 3 PokéStops or gyms (Piplup encounter)

Reward: Psyduck encounter, 500 Stardust, 500 XP

Step 8 of 11

• Make 3 nice throws in a row (Cyndaquil encounter)
• Catch 1 flying-type Pokémon (Hoothoot encounter)
• Purify 1 Shadow Pokémon (1 Lucky Egg)
