Pokémon Go Galarian Mr. Mime event guide: Special Research tasks and rewards

Pokémon Go is celebrating winter by introducing Galarian Mr. Mime to the game through an event.

From Dec. 18 at 10 a.m. until Dec. 21 at 8 p.m. in your local time, Incense will last three hours and attract “cool and melodious Pokémon.” This includes Pokémon like Jynx, Woobat, Spoink, and Swinub. Cubchoo is also available as Shiny for the first time.

The only way to get a Galarian Mr. Mime and its evolution, Mr. Rime, during this event is to buy a special ticket for $7.99. Once you buy the ticket, you’ll need to open Pokémon Go from Dec. 19 at 10 a.m. until Dec. 20 at 8 p.m. in your local time. This will unlock a set of Special Research Tasks that will reward you with Galarian Mr. Mime, as well as the candy you’ll need to evolve him.

The purchased Special Research Task set will not expire, so there’s no need to rush to complete it in one weekend. It may, however, be easier to complete during the weekend based on necessary catches that likely have an increased spawn rate during the event.

• Catch 15 ice-type Pokémon (Snorunt encounter)
• Make 3 great curveball throws (Alolan Vulpix encounter)
• Transfer 10 Pokémon (3 Incense)

Reward: 2,000 Stardust, 3 Rare Candy, Jynx encounter

Step 2 of 5

• Catch 15 Pokémon (Jigglypuff encounter)
• Spin a Poké Stop or gym (Whismur encounter)
• Use 10 berries to help catch Pokémon (3,000 XP)

Reward: 2,000 Stardust, 30 Poké Balls, Chimecho encounter

Step 3 of 5

• Catch 15 psychic-type Pokémon (30 Ultra Balls)
• Make 2 nice curveball throws in a row (3 Premium Raid Passes)
• Power up Pokémon 3 times (3,000 XP)

Reward: 2,000 Stardust, 1 Poffin, Galarian Mr. Mime encounter

• Earn a heart with your buddy (30 Mr. Mime candy)
• Earn a candy walking with your buddy (30 Mr. Mime candy)
• Evolve a Galarian Mr. Mime (3,000 XP)

Reward: 2,000 Stardust, 2 Glacial Lure Modules, Mr. Mime encounter
