Pokémon Go is hosting its Shinx Community Day, which takes place on Nov. 21, 2021. Our Pokémon Go Shinx Community Day guide includes all of Shinx’s Community Day’s perks, the exclusive move Luxray learns, and the ways to make the most of your Community Day.
The usual Community Day perks, like increased spawn and Shiny rate, will be active on Nov. 21 from 11 a.m. until 5 p.m. in your local time zone.
How do I make the most of Shinx Community Day?
Shinx Community Day features a hatch distance bonus, which means that any eggs put into Incubators during the event period will hatch in 25% of the usual time. Incense used during the event will also last a whopping three hours, so you should use one (if you have one) to increase your Shinx spawns further.
Shinx Community Day also has other bonuses, since it’s the last regular Community Day of the year. Candy obtained from transferring Pokémon will be tripled, and you’ll get a higher chance of receiving XL Candy from transferring. Transfer your Pokémon during the event period to reap the benefits.
There will also be three free Raid Passes given out from spinning gyms. It’s likely that you’ll only be able to hold one of these at a time, so you should use them and claim the extras as you go.
Trading Pokémon from 11 a.m. until 7 p.m. in your local time will also cost 25% less Stardust, which is a solid discount, especially if you’re trading Shiny or Legendary Pokémon.
How do I find a Shiny Shinx?
Community Day events have a heightened Shiny rate for the featured Pokémon, so if you’re playing, you should be able to find several Shiny Shinx.
If you don’t have time to play all day, you can find a Shiny Shinx by popping an Incense, and tapping each Shinx that pops up. The Shiny rate on Community Days is approximately 1 in 25, according to The Silph Road’s research, so you should find a Shiny Shinx quickly.
What Community Day move does Shinx’s evolution learn?
When evolved any time on Nov. 21 from 11 a.m. until 7 p.m. in your local time, your Shinx evolution will learn Psychic Fangs, a psychic-type move.
Based on past years, if you miss the Community Day period, you’ll likely be able to evolve your Shinx during the December Community Weekend event to get its move. You can also use an Elite TM to teach legacy Community Day-only moves.
How does Luxray do in battle?
In PvE content, Luxray is acceptable. It’s not the best electric-type attacker, but if you set it up with Spark and Wild Charge, it’ll help take down water- and flying-types.
In PvP, Luxray does well if you give it Spark with Wild Charge and Psychic Fangs.
