Pokémon Go Fletchling Community Day guide: start times and best movesets

The normal- and flying-type bird who turns into a fire- and flying-type is getting its time in the limelight

Fletchling will be featured in Pokémon Go’s Community Day on March 6 from 11 a.m. until 5 p.m. in your local time.

As usual with Community Days, the featured Pokémon will be spawning in huge numbers, with an increased chance to find it Shiny.

How do I find a Shiny Fletchling?

Since Fletchling will be popping up everywhere, just tap every Fletchling you see until you get a Shiny one. You’ll find one sooner or later, as the Shiny rate on Community Days is boosted to about a one in 24 rate.

What special move does Talonflame learn?

When you evolve Fletchling into its final evolution, Talonflame, it will learn the fire-type move, Incinterate. Keep in mind that it has to be evolved on March 6 from 11 a.m. until 7 p.m. in your local time in order to get this movie.

How do I make the most of Fletchling’s Community Day?

During the event period, any XP earned from catching Pokémon will be tripled, so we recommend using Lucky Eggs as you catch Pokémon. These will grant you even more XP, which will be useful for climbing to level 40 and beyond.

Talonflame is an OK fire-type attacker for gyms and raids, and is massively outclassed by Pokémon like Reshiram and Chandelure. If you want to use it in raids, set it up with Fire Spin and Fire Blast (not the Community Day move.) It will be very good in Ultra League for PvP, with Incinerate, Brave Bird, and Flame Charge.

If you’re deciding which Shiny Fletchling to evolve at the end of the day, try using one of the new search strings. Sort your ‘mons by “recent” using the lower right icon, and then type “4*” in the search box at the top. This will let you know if you have any 100% IV Fletchling. Most people won’t be so lucky, so next you’ll want to type “3*” in the search box, which will show you any recent ‘mons that are 80% or above. Appraise these to see which one is best, and then evolve your new buddy!
