Pokémon Go Unova Celebration event guide: Field Research and rewards

Grab a Shiny Snivy, if you’re lucky

Pokémon Go is hosting another event that increases the spawn rates of Unova region Pokémon from Jan. 5 at 10 a.m. until Jan. 10 at 8 p.m. in your local time.

During the event period, Pokémon like Snivy, Tepig, Oshawott, Blitzle, Lillipup, and other Unovan Pokémon will have increased spawn rates. Unovan Pokémon will also be hatching out of five kilometer eggs obtained during the event period.

Snivy, the grass-type starter Pokémon from Unova, is also appearing Shiny for the first time. (We don’t know what this means for future Community Days, seeing as starter Pokémon normally debut their Shiny forms during those.)

Consider holding on to any Shiny Snivy or other strong Unovan starters you find, as they will very likely get a Community Day down the line. Community Days for starter Pokémon typically teach its strongest move when evolved during the event, so it’s worth not evolving your starters to their final forms until then.

There’s also a handful of Field Research that will help you find the Unovan starters and reward some Stardust.
