The Lake Trio Azelf, Mesprit, and Uxie are making their rounds in Pokémon Go tier five raids in specific regions. In our Pokémon Go guide, we’ll list out the best counters against the three, along with how to find them Shiny.
Azelf is in the Americas and Greenland, Uxie is in the Asia-Pacific region, and Mesprit is in Europe, the Middle East, India, and Africa. You can use Remote Raid Passes to access the ones not in your region.
Azelf, Mesprit, and Uxie counters and weaknesses
The three Pokémon are all psychic-type, which means they have the same counters. For all three of them, you will want to bring out your strongest ghost-, bug-, and dark-type moves.
The following work as very good counters:
- Origin Forme Giratina with Shadow Claw and Shadow Ball
- Gengar with Shadow Claw (Legacy) or Hex and Shadow Ball
- Tyranitar with Bite and Crunch
- Mewtwo with Psycho Cut and Shadow Ball (Legacy)
Bug-types like Scizor and Pinsir will do fine against the Lake Trio, with the exception of when Azelf has Fire Blast. Similarly, Giratina will struggle against Mesprit with Blizzard.
You should also use weather boosts to help beef up your moves. Foggy weather will boost dark- and ghost-type moves. Rainy weather will boost bug-type moves.
Azelf, Mesprit, and Uxie best movesets
Once you catch them all three of the Legendaries have the same preferred moveset: Confusion with Future Sight. Mesprit and Azelf should ditch Blizzard and Fire Blast, respectively, as there are much better ice-type and fire-type attackers out there who also utilize same type attack bonus. Uxie can keep Thunder without significantly losing out on DPS, but Future Sight remains a better pick.
Are Azelf, Mesprit, and Uxie available Shiny?

Lucky players may find Azelf, Mesprit, and Uxie Shiny. If you do, make sure to use a Pinap Berry to boost the number of candy you get, since Shiny Legendary Pokémon are guaranteed catches.
