Thundurus has joined Pokémon Go’s five star Legendary raid rotation. Our Pokémon Go Thundurus raid guide explains Thundurus’ best moveset, counters, and weaknesses for both of its forms.
Just like the other Forces of Nature, Thundurus has two forms: the human-like Incarnate Forme and the bird-like Therian Forme. The Pokémon’s type doesn’t change between forms, so all these counters should work no matter what.
Thundurus best counters and weaknesses
Thundurus is only weak against rock- and ice-type Pokémon, so consider using any of the following Thundurus best counters and weaknesses:
- Rampardos with Smack Down and Rock Slide
- Mamoswine with Powder Snow and Avalanche
- Tyranitar with Smack Down and Stone Edge
- Rhyperior with Smack Down and Rock Wrecker
If you’re having trouble, remember to use weather boosts to turn the tides in your favor. Rain boosts electric-type moves, and partly cloudy weather boosts rock-type moves.
Thundurus best moveset
Incarnate Forme Thundurus isn’t very good for raiding or for gyms, but you can give it Thunder Shock and Thunder if you want to use it.
Therian Forme Thundurus is a great electric-type attacker when set up with Volt Switch and Thunderbolt.
Can Thundurus be Shiny?

Lucky players may encounter a Shiny Thundurus. If you do see a Shiny, you’ll catch it on the first ball you hit it with, so use a Pinap Berry to score some extra candy.
