Ho-oh, the rainbow Legendary bird, is one of Pokémon Go’s many raid targets. Our Pokémon Go Ho-oh raid guide has Ho-oh’s best counters, weaknesses, and moveset.
Ho-oh best counters and weaknesses
Ho-oh’s flying- and fire-typing give it a double weakness to rock-type moves. It’s also weak against water- and electric-type moves, but rock-type moves are way better to use. Ho-oh’s best counters and weaknesses include:
- Tyranitar with Smack Down and Stone Edge
- Rhyperior with Smack Down and Stone Edge
- Rampardos with Smack Down and Rock Slide
- Terrakion with Smack Down and Rock Slide
Remember that weather powers up moves. Rainy weather boosts water- and electric-type moves, and partly cloudy weather boosts rock-type moves.
Ho-oh best moveset
Ho-oh isn’t a great attacker, as it falls way behind Moltres, Blaziken, and Chandelure. If you want to have the best Ho-oh possible, use Incinerate and Fire Blast.
Can Ho-oh be Shiny?

Lucky players may encounter a Shiny Ho-oh. If you do see a Shiny, you’ll catch it on the first ball you hit it with, so use a Pinap Berry to score some extra candy.
