Pokémon Go is finally getting Pokémon from generation 7, specifically those from the Alola region. To celebrate this, new Special Research Tasks about Melemele Island have been added to the game. Our Pokémon GoA Melemele Adventure” guide details the steps for the Special Research as well as the rewards.

Once you unlock “A Melemele Adventure” by logging in on or after March 1 and tapping the usual Field Research button in the bottom right corner, you have as much time as you want to complete it. In order to get this Special Research, you must start it by June 1.

While this Special Research set will reward you with what will (most likely) be your first Yungoos or Pikipek, it’s not a huge deal to miss out on these rewards. Most players will have dozens of these Pokémon in a month’s time, as each generation’s rodent and bird Pokémon become common spawns.

We list the steps for “A Melemele Adventure” below.

  • Catch 10 Pokémon (Alolan Rattata encounter)
  • Send 3 gifts and add a sticker to each (10 Poké Balls)
  • Catch 5 normal-type Pokémon (Yungoos encounter)

Reward: 10 Pinap Berry, 500 XP, 500 Stardust
