Pokémon Go players can now fight against Kyogre, the water-type legendary from the Hoenn region. The Pokémon will be featured in Raid battles worldwide from today, Jan. 12, through Feb. 14 at 1 p.m. PT.
Kyogre first appeared in Pokémon Sapphire, the 2003 Game Boy Advance game. The Pokémon was its cover star, in fact; it was complemented by Pokémon Ruby’s Groudon. Groudon came to Pokémon Go back in December. Its Raid battle launched alongside the release of several third-generation Pokémon, the most recent set to be available in the mobile game.
Players will appreciate that they won’t need a special invitation in order to capture Kyogre. Unlike the legendary Pokémon Mewtwo, Kyogre is part of standard Raid battles, not the premium exclusive ones. Those have left the fanbase frustrated over the past few months, as the EX Raid battle selection process continues to confound hardcore players who have yet to receive an invite.
