To celebrate Earth Day, Niantic was offering Pokémon Go rewards if enough players went out to help clean up the planet and tweeted their efforts using a hashtag.

The Pokémon Go and Ingress communities both achieved all the goals, meaning that there will be a ground-type event for a limited time. This means that ground-type spawns will be increased, Shiny Diglett has been added to the game, and Groudon will return to raids. In additions, players will get double Stardust and catch candy when catching ground-type Pokémon.

This event is a great way to stock up on any ground-type candy you might need. For example: Trapinch’s to get a Flygon, Rhyhorn’s to get a Rhyperior, or Swinub’s to get a Mamoswine. Rhyperior and Mamoswine are both good attackers, and you’ll need a lot of candy to level up and evolve both of those.

Groudon is the best ground-type attacker in the game, so if you don’t have one yet, we have a guide for you.

This event will continue until May 2, so make sure to hoard all the ground-types you need before then.
