Time to book some travel

Pokémon Go continues to be a global phenomenon, and its developer, Niantic, has seen enormous success in hosting events all over the world. Last year’s events in Chicago, Dortmund, and Montréal featured around 200,000 on-location players and millions of dollars in revenue for the developer. Niantic is sticking with that strategy in 2020, and has revealed the game’s live events schedule for the first half of the year.

Pokémon Go’s first on-location event in 2020 will take place in Taichung, Taiwan, to coincide with the local Lantern Festival. It will take place on Feb. 6 through Feb. 9. There are no ticketing details for this event so it’s possible it’ll be open to everyone in the area.

Next is a Safari Zone in St. Louis, from March 27-29. Tickets for this Safari Zone will go on sale starting on Jan. 24 at 8 a.m. CT.

Following that is another Safari Zone, this time in Liverpool on April 17-19. Tickets will go on sale starting Jan. 31 at 8 a.m. GMT.

The last currently scheduled event is a Safari Zone in Philadelphia on May 8-10. Ticket details for this event are still forthcoming.

Details on these events remain scarce, though if past events are any indication, participants can expect increased Shiny rates and rare regional spawns (so long as they have a ticket).

It’s worth noting that the largest Pokémon Go event of the year, Go Fest, is still unscheduled. Last year’s Go Fest in Chicago was first revealed in April, so it may be some time before we know where and when that event will take place.
