Pokémon Go’s January 2020 Community Day will feature Piplup, the adorable penguin water-type Pokémon.

The Community Day will take place on Sunday, Jan. 19, but the event time will be different depending on which hemisphere you live in, which is a first for the game. Players in the Northern Hemisphere will have their event active from 11 a.m. until 2 p.m. in their local time, and players in the Southern Hemisphere will have their event from 3 p.m. until 6 p.m. in their local time.

During this event, Piplup will be spawning in large numbers, with a high chance to find it Shiny.

The special Community Day move for Piplup has yet to be officially announced, but it’s pretty safe to say it’s going to be Hydro Cannon, like all the other water-type starter Pokémon. Evolving Piplup into its final evolution, Empoleon, during the event period will give it this powerful move. This is a great move on Empoleon, making it a strong water-type attacker, only behind Kingler, Kyogre, and Swampert.

All eggs put into Incubators during the event period will also hatch four times faster than usual. As with all other Community Days, Lures will also last for three hours.

The next level of puzzles.

Take a break from your day by playing a puzzle or two! We’ve got SpellTower, Typeshift, crosswords, and more.
