It’s Pokémon Day, and Nintendo has something special planned for Pokémon fans: first details on the new Pokémon games for Nintendo Switch, Pokémon Sword and Pokémon Shield.

Nintendo, The Pokémon Company, and series developer Game Freak revealed first footage of Pokémon Sword and Pokémon Shield today, and announced the games’ trio of new starters. There’s Grookey, the grass Chimp Pokémon; Scorbunny, an energetic fire-type Rabbit Pokémon; and Sobble, the timid Water Lizard Pokémon. Together, Pokémon trainers will travel the new Galar Region on adventures, where they’ll catch eighth-generation Pokémon.

Pokémon Sword and Pokémon Shield are coming to Nintendo Switch in late 2019.

Today’s Pokémon Direct kicked off at 9 a.m. ET/6 a.m. PT. You can watch an archive of the livestreamed presentation, via YouTube, in the video above. The presentation was also streamed on Twitch.
