There’s a brand new free-to-play Pokémon game coming to mobile devices soon — unless you’re in Australia, in which case it’s out already. Pokémon Rumble Rush features real-time battles where players send their monsters rushing toward enemy Pokémon.
The first Pokémon Rumble game was released in 2009 on WiiWare and since then the series has popped up on a few different Nintendo platforms. This new entry in the series will send players to explore various uncharted islands where Pokémon can be defeated or befriended.
While Pokémon Rumble Rush isn’t a multiplayer game, if you’re the first player to discover a new island you’ll have the chance to name it. You can also head to islands that other players have explored to try your hand at finding rare, or even Legendary, Pokémon and hidden secrets.
The release of this latest Pokémon Rumble game may seem like a bit of a surprise, but another mobile game in the series wasn’t totally unexpected. Back in 2017 it was announced that the next Pokémon mobile game would in fact be in the Pokemon Rumble series. That game was originally called PokéLand, but it looks like the name has changed since the game’s initial alpha test in Japan.
Pokémon Rumble Rush is free-to-play and already out for Android players that live in Australia — or anyone who wants to change their Google Play Store region. For iOS players and players in other parts of the world, Pokémon Company International has said that the game will be out shortly, but it didn’t get anymore specific than that.
